APARTMENT-ROOMMATE AGREEMENT FORM UC Davis Student Housing It is recommended that an Apartment-roommate agreement be completed anytime two or more students engage in a new living situation or in the event that a conflict arises between Apartment-mates. This document is designed to provide students the opportunity to establish some guidelines related to the detail of their living arrangements. Hours reserved for studying/sleep: Time the apartment should be quiet Should advance notice be given before a planned guest arrives? If yes, how much is appropriate? Where will studying be conducted? What will be the generally accepted appearance of the common room? Other Areas of Concern: Immaculate Clean Somewhat Mess Messy SUGGESTION: Set specific rules about who is responsible for keeping which rooms clean, set a cleaning schedule, or set general house rules like "clean up after yourself” or "no shoes on the furniture.” Kitchen Refrigerator/Freezer Use: How will the space be divided? Should food be labeled? Will food be shared? Cabinet Space: How will the space be divided? Dishes: Will dishes be shared? Who is responsible for cleaning the dishes? Overall Cleaning: How often will this space be cleaned? How will cleaning be decided? Bathroom (if applicable) Counter/Cabinet Space: How will this space be divided? Can items be shared? Shower/Tub: Do you tend to shower in the morning or at night? How will you share the shelf space within the shower? Bathroom Use: What if you need to get ready at the same time, how will you share the space? What time do you need to get ready for class? Toilet Paper: Who will purchase the toilet paper? Overall Cleaning: How often will this space be cleaned? How will cleaning be decided? Other Areas of Concern: SUGGESTION: Set specific rules about who is responsible for keeping the bathroom stocked and cleaned, set a schedule, or set general rules like "always clean up after yourself” or "don’t leave any items on the counters.” SECURITY I agree to lock all doors, windows, and balcony/patio door of our apartment whenever I leave. I agree to take my key with me whenever I leave. I will not rely on my Apartment-mates if I lose my key and will take responsibility for the loss. Most Apartment-mate conflicts can be prevented by communicating with each other and reaching mutually agreed upon living arrangements. Discuss issues at the Apartment-mate level first, and then utilize your apartment manager or the Coordinator for Apartment Living as a resource for mediation. By signing this document you understand and agree to all the guidelines established in this agreement.
