Opportunities for our most
able students
2014 - 15
Dear Parent/Carer of:
Your child has been identified as one of our “most able” students at Farlingaye High
School within their year group.
The most able is a list of approximately the top 10% of students in each year group
based on criteria using a variety of data such as reading scores, Key Stage 2 scores,
Fischer Family Trust data, CAT scores and PIM/PIE tests.
To support our most able students at Farlingaye all students are monitored to ensure
they are making the required progress based on their ability and intervention provided
where necessary. All teaching staff are aware of the students who appear on “most
able” register and plan lessons accordingly to ensure there are opportunities suitable for
the ability of your child.
In addition to this there is a range of additional opportunities for most able students. The
purpose of this booklet is to outline the planned activities for the coming year which your
child may be able to take part in. Specific information relating to any of these
opportunities will be provided by teaching staff at appropriate times throughout the year
and students should also check the daily bulletin for any details. The activities outlined
in this book are correct at the time of printing.
Finally, may I also take this opportunity to draw your attention to our ‘Resources’ section
at the end of this booklet. This will include the description of our dedicated website for
“most able” students and twitter account as well as external links of interest.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us or a faculty link
teacher at the school.
Yours sincerely
