Job Description Job Title: Senior Manager, Marketing, Americas Submit Resume to: Recruiting@spe.org SUMMARY This position is responsible for the overall marketing, public relations and brand management of SPEsponsored events in North and South America, including the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC). Responsibilities include developing a structured marketing strategy for the Americas events and implementing tactical plans for event marketing campaigns. The successful candidate will collaborate cross-functionally on new concepts and event strategies across the Americas, as well as globally with other regions’ marketing staff. This position reports directly to the Managing Director, North America, and indirectly to the Vice President Sales & Marketing. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Develop overall marketing and public relations strategies for Americas events to ensure they are promoted to the appropriate member segments and that each has a unique identity and value proposition. Introduce, evaluate, design, and execute regional marketing initiatives or programs using the most effective mix of channels for the target audience. Measure success against goals. Execute regional event marketing campaigns in line with the company’s global marketing strategy. Work closely with the web, creative, and public relations teams to ensure consistent branding and messaging, and collaborate with Global Marketing staff on joint campaigns. Define and track Americas regional campaign plans, timelines, and budgets, and evaluate campaign results to optimize ROI and lead quality. Coordinate SPE Americas and OTC event marketing efforts with other sponsoring, endorsing, and supporting organizations. Oversee a consistent and effective use of the OTC brand and its associated global marketing strategy. Provide support for OTC board committees, as assigned. Analyze new conference markets and opportunities. Recommend strategies to enter new markets or penetrate existing markets with new or improved events. Travel to prospective event locations, board meetings, and attend events as required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (if applicable) The Senior Manager, Marketing, Americas supervises two regional marketing managers, one marketing specialist, one marketing coordinator, and one technical advisor. JOB SPEICIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or related field. Minimum of eight years’ relevant marketing experience. Oil and gas industry experience helpful. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Has an advanced knowledge of events and/or tradeshows and how to market them. Understands and applies business and marketing principles to develop marketing plans and manage campaigns. Job Description Uses copywriting and editing skills for a wide range of marketing projects, such as writing print, email, and web copy, and editing copy to meet quality and style standards. Recommends creative approaches to meet campaign objectives. Ability to manage projects from concept to production, including overseeing schedules and budgets. Has a good eye for creative; advanced skills in working with creative staff in producing materials that effectively communicate project goals and reinforce SPE brands. Excellent at managing priorities to ensure on-time delivery of multiple projects with competing deadlines simultaneously. Flexible; can easily work with many different people in different departments and functions, local and long distance. Experience with email broadcast and web content management systems. Strong analytical skills and understanding of email marketing, direct mail, and web metrics. Effectively presents information and respond to questions from groups of managers and internal clients. Experience with international marketing and culture considerations. Ability to compose reports, business correspondence, and online communications. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. Understanding of statistical concepts and their application in data analysis. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Able to analyze Job Description complex data sets to gain insight from them, then present findings effectively in graphical form to allow ease of understanding.
