Wavelet Signal Image Processing Lab Mukesh Motwani (mukesh[At]image-process.com) Image Process Technology (IPT), Inc. Reno, Nevada. USA 22nd May 2004 Goals Involve software in every aspect of engineering. Introduce software assignments and software projects for courses. Explore the use of wavelets in all fields of science with emphasis on speech, image processing and computer vision. Improve student understanding of concepts by introducing online courses related to wavelets. Goals Take intra-department projects to setup a framework for future projects. Add features to the VIT website by asking students to take projects. Start foundation for a Robotics & Parallel Processing Lab Development of low cost technologies to assist the blind and the poor. Invitation for students Students are invited to take projects involving use of FPGA toolkit, Lego Robotics toolkit and Fingerprint sensors Students should research the hardware and then IPT will purchase and donate the equipment to VIT. Equipment to be made available by Feb 2005. Invitation for students Projects involving .NET are invited for students from Computer Engineering SE/TE Students from Instrumentation, Mechanical, Elex, Computer Engineering are invited to start development on building a robot. Funding available up to $200 per year for a period of 3 years. Invitation for students Funding available up to $1000 for student building tools and technologies for child development and disabled people. Equipment to be added Web cameras FPGA kit Fingerprint Sensor Lego Mindset Robotics toolkit. All the equipment will donated to VIT and will be part of VIT’s infrastructure. IPT will hold all ownership rights to any intellectual property that is developed during the course of the project. Priority to students taking projects to use the equipment. Prize Structure Image Process Technology (IPT) Inc, will award $100 for each group of students taking a research project. However, if more than 5 groups are participating in a year, then 3 prizes of $300, $150, $50 will be awarded along with a complimentary prize of $20 to each group. No prize awarded for nonresearch based projects. Outstanding Researcher / Teacher of the Year Award IPT wishes to give a prize of $100 to any teacher from the ELEX department who tries new methods in teaching or publishes in IEEE conferences/ journal. Recipient of the award to be decided by the students and HOD.
