Newsletter – 18th July 2013
Dear Parent/Guardian
I can hardly believe that I am writing the last newsletter of the year! The last few weeks of term have flown by helped
by this fantastic weather. Thank you to everyone who attended Sports Day, our Musical Evening and the Year 6
Leavers’ Evening all of which were highly successful events.
Both our Reception classes and Nursery classes have enjoyed Ugly Bug Balls this week and Year 2 welcomed all their
mums and dads in for a ‘Happiness’ morning and there were smiles around.
A message from the PTA
Thank you to everyone who supported the Summer Fayre we raised over £2000 towards the new iPads!
Next term we are hoping to arrange a disco for the children and a pamper evening for ladies, and our traditional
Christmas Fayre which this year will be on Friday 29th November from 3.30-5.30pm. If you know of anyone who would
like to run a stall at the pamper evening, please contact the PTA Treasurer, Judi Stockford (c/o the school.)
We would also like to give many thanks to Mrs. Stark, Ms. Rowlands, Mr. Walton and Ms. Hudson for their huge
contribution to the PTA over the years. Their children are leaving us to start Secondary School.
Staff Changes
We say a sad farewell this week to several members of staff. Miss. Taylor one of our TAs has left us to go travelling
whilst Miss. Jones one of our nursery teaching assistants is leaving us to train as a teacher. We are also saying goodbye
to Mrs. Smith who is leaving us to take up a post in St. Francis Primary School and Miss. Binnell who is taking up a post
at Rhiwbeina Primary School. They have all made a wonderful contribution to our school and we wish them all every
success for the future.
I would also like to thank Mr. Williams who has taught class 5B on Thursdays and Fridays for the second half of the
year.

I am delighted to inform you that our new uniform is now in stock for you to purchase. Uniform is available directly

(Please note, YC Sports are opening an additional branch and our uniform will also be available from the Canton
branch from 14.08.13 and will no longer be available from the Crwys Road branch).
School Leavers
We say a fond farewell this week to our 29 Year 6 pupils. They have matured and blossomed into a wonderful Year 6
and we know that they are ready for the next big challenges that await them at Radyr Comprehensive and Bishop of
Llandaff. We look forward to hearing of your learning successes – do come back and visit us!
For some parents, their child leaving Year 6 marks the end of their time at Danescourt as a parent. We would like to
thank you for your support and contributions to school life over the last 8 years!

School’s out!
Finally a reminder that term ends on Friday 19 July at 3.20pm. Monday 22 July is an INSET day.
New Autumn Term – September 2013
The new term starts on Tuesday 3rd September at 8.55am for all pupils in Years 1-6. If you have a child starting
Reception or Nursery you will have been sent a letter indicating their start date and time.
All that remains is for me to wish you all a wonderful Summer Holiday!
