each of them.
2. (a) Classify different types of aggregate and on what bases they can be classified?
(b) What are the factors to be considered during the study of aggregates?
(c) Categorize different aggregates based on their size.
3. (a) Discuss in detail the action of plasticizers in concrete.
(b) What do you understand by superplasticizers and their effect on fresh concrete?
(c) How to determine optimum dose of superplasticizer to concrete?
(d) What are the various problems in use of superplasticizers?
4. Discuss in detail the various tests that are commonly employed to measure workability
of concrete.
5. (a) Differentiate high strength concrete from high performance concrete.

(b) Estimate the strength of concrete at 21 days using maturity concept for M40 Grade
cement cured at 120C for 4 hours and 180C for 8 hours and 210C for the rest of the
period? Plowman’s coefficients are A = 21 and B = 61.
6. (a) Explain the relation between modulus of elasticity and strength of concrete.
