Here are the notes from Part 1 of 4! Please refer to my descriptions as more of a text form reminder of how to sign them. NOT to be learned from. My dominate hand is my right hand. So when I say “right,” I mean your dominate hand. Your left hand will generally remain stationary and provide a support for your right hand. “Slow” - Your right hand's palm is open. Slowly stroke the top of your left arm. “Again” - Your left hand has a cup or bowl shape and stays stationary while the right hand has the same shape. Your right hand will "Jump" into the other cup made by the left hand. “Thank you” - Right hand's palm is open, and you have the tips of your fingers on the lips. You lower your hands out like you're going to show someone something in your hands. “Finger spelling” - Wiggle your fingers in a horizontal motion. “Understand” - Have your hand in a closed fist facing you, and then have the index finger flick off the thumb. “Deaf” - Your index finger points and taps on your lips to your ears. “Hearing” - It's like you're “blowing raspberries,” almost! With your index finger, bring it horizontal to your lips and do a twirl. “Hard of hearing” - one hand does the H handshape and like you're bouncing a basketball but move your hand slightly outwards on the second bounce. “Hello” - do something similar to a military salute. “Yes” - S handshake like a fist. Have the fist nod like your head does. “No” - With your index and middle finger have them open and close with thumb like Pac-Man. “Person” - your palms are flat and they move down in a vertical line. “Learn” - Like you're taking information from a piece of paper and absorbing it into your mind. “Teach” - Your fingers and thumbs are touching, and you bring both hands up to head level and you do a back and forth movement towards someone. “Student” - Learn plus person “Teacher” - Teach plus person “My name is”… “My” - palm open pat your chest. “Name” - two fingers creating the H handshape on each hand and then like you're holding two cigarettes, tap the right over the left hand.. “Where are you from?” “Where” - wiggle your index finger. “From” - your left hand's index finger points upward, and your right hand does a hook shape, like the X handshape. Pull like you're doing archery. “Who's your teacher?” “Who” - Have your thumb touching your chin, Then have the index finger do a twirl over the lips. ‘How are you?’ “How” - Two hands form like they're holding an old Nintendo controller. The left hand stays stationary while the right hand twits forward in place. “Nice to meet you.” “Nice” - Both hands are open, the left hand's palm is facing up, the right is facing down. The right hand will slide on the left hand moving forward. “Meet” - Two index fingers "meet" by touching with the closed fist touching the fingers. “Nice to meet you TOO.” “Too” - Y handshake is pointing with your pinky and your thumb towards you and someone else. The motions is moving back and forth between you and someone else. “Why are you learning sign?” “Why” - The open hand is near the head, and you wiggle your middle finger downwards. “Sign” - Your index fingers are in a horizontal line and they circle each other. “Fun” - Two H handshapes meet when one hand touching from the nose "sits" on the other one in front of the signer. “Work” - Two S shapes are facing down while one is on top of the other at the wrists. Have them bounce of each other. “School” - Open hands, fingers spread, it's you doing the horizontal clap. “Credit” - You do the F hand shape, like everything's great, and slide the sign down on the upper body like you're putting something in your pocket. “Class” - C hand shape, it's like a fortune teller is rubbing her crystal ball from the front to the back in one motion. “Online” - Your hands are open with fingers out wide, your middle fingers connect to each other.
