Instructional Technology Plan Survey Requirement Part 100.12 of the Commissioner’s Regulations: “To be eligible for aid for instructional computer hardware and technology equipment expenses pursuant to Education Law, section 753, school districts shall develop and maintain a plan, in a format prescribed by the commissioner, for the use of the instructional computer technology equipment.” Purpose Compile all data related to their technology planning and needs in one location Use as a basis for funding opportunities Will satisfy the NYSED’s requirement that all school districts submit technology plans Deadline to submit the survey: October 16, 2015 Each RIC needs to set its own deadlines so that the plans are certified before October deadline. This initial submission is for a three year plan. Annual updates to the survey are REQUIRED by June 30 of each year. Certified review process might start as early as March 2016 for the June 2016 approval. The plan must be certified and submitted to SED before a district can apply for SMART Schools funds. SMART Schools Bond Act application is also submitted to this portal, but it is a separate survey. This cannot be submitted until the Tech Plan is approved. District designee has access to the portal and assigns entitlements. Districts should not submit their plans to the state until they have received written confirmation of certification from the RIC certified reviewer. District will send a PDF copy to the RIC Certified Reviewer (hard copy or via email). The Reviewer has to go through a checklist and has to send paperwork to SED to let them know that they have reviewed the plan. Once the RIC Reviewer has certified the plan, they will let the district know that it is ok to submit the plan. Note: DO NOT HIT THE SUBMIT Button until ready to send to state. Use the Print button to create a PDF draft to work with or send to the RIC reviewer. Survey Sections A. LEA Information B. Instructional Technology Vision and Goals C.
