nitrogenase
Can we synthesize ammonia directly from water and dinitrogen
under ambient temperature and pressure just like nitrogenfixing bacteria does ?
2N2 + 6H2O = 4NH3 + 3O2
Electrochemistry
Possibility vs. reality
Spontaneous

Surface chemistry
What is nanomaterials?
Why the properties of nano-scale materials are quite
different from that of bulk materials?
Polymer nanotube
Nanopore array
(anodic aluminum
oxide, AAO)
Nanowire and nanorod
Colloid Chemistry
Aims of study
 give satisfactory explanation to and endue
better understanding of our nature and our
society;
 make good control on both the natural and
artificial processes;
 enable us to make great improvement and
advancement in both social life and scientific
research.

3. How to improve your learning?
Course rational
“…and, as you go out into
the world, I predict that
you will, gradually and
imperceptibly, forget all
you ever learned at this
university”…
What have we learnt and what will we forgotten,
knowledge, ability or makings?
Major Categories in the Taxonomy of Educational Objectives
Knowledge: terminology; specific facts; ways and means of dealing with
specifics (conventions, trends and sequences, classifications and categories,
criteria, methodology); universals and abstractions in a field (principles and
generalizations, theories and structures).
Comprehension: Grasping (understanding) the meaning of informational materials.
Application: The use of previously learned information in new situations to solve
problems.
Analysis: The breaking down of informational materials into their component parts,
examining (and trying to understand the organizational structure of) such information to
develop divergent conclusions by identifying motives or causes, making inferences,
and/or finding evidence to support generalizations.
Synthesis: Creatively or divergently applying prior knowledge and skills to produce a
new or original whole.
Evaluation: Judging the value of material based on personal values/opinions, resulting
in an end product, with a given purpose, without real right or wrong answers.
