What’s important to us (our values): To provide high quality, evidence based integrated Services that are valued by service users, delivered by a safe, competent and skilled workforce in partnership with children, young people and their families and other agencies. What we do: Occupational Therapists (OTs) enable children and young people to take part as fully as possible in activities that are part of their daily lives. OTs work with children and young people who have learning, physical and /or sensory difficulties which impact their ability to participate in normal everyday activities. Physiotherapists (PTs) work with children and young people who have a wide range of physical disabilities of neurological origin or developmental orthopaedic conditions. Some examples include Cerebral Palsy, Muscular dystrophy, Spina Bifida, Syndromes which have associated physical difficulties, Acquired brain injuries, Meningitis, Developmental delay, Hypermobility, Plagiocephaly and Torticollis. Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) work with children and young people of all ages with a range difficulties that impact on communication including: listening, understanding, putting ideas into words, making sentences, speech development, stammering, voice problems, social interaction skills and eating and swallowing difficulties. The service helps children and young people to develop speech, language or alternative means of communication. Who we offer this service to: Children and Young People 0-19 years. Across Oxfordshire, we will facilitate a supportive transition to adult services when the young person reaches 18. The transition process can be started at the Year 9 review in partnership with Education Services. How and when we do it: Monday - Friday Therapists will work with you / your child / young person to assess their strengths and needs. This will be done through activities, exercises, observation and assessments. Following assessment, the therapists work with settings and schools to develop goals for you, the child or young person. Therapy support may then continue in a range of ways including advice/ activity recommendations, therapy / exercise programmes, direct therapy, therapy groups, training for others. Support is offered in the most appropriate environment for the child / young person and family e.g. schools, nurseries, own homes, community clinics, children’s centres. Therapy Teams work in an integrated way as part of the Team around the Child and family and in close partnership with Advisory Teachers within Education and Colleagues in Health and Social Care. Children’s Integrated Therapies work within three integrated area teams. Some countywide Specialist Support Services work across the county e.g. Hearing Impairment, Dysfluency etc. South Oxon: Childrens Integrated Therapy Services Abingdon Hospital, Marcham Road, Abingdon, OX14 1AG Tel 01235 205735 Fax 01235 208732 Central Oxon: Childrens Integrated Therapy Services Community Paediatrics, LG1 Childrens Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU Tel 01865 231988/82 Fax 01865 231985 North Oxon: Childrens Integrated Therapy Services Orchard Health Centre, Cope Road, Banbury, OX16 2EZ Tel 01295 819179/80 Fax 01295 819119 E-mail: oxonchildrens.therapies@oxfordhealth.nhs.uk
