Joining a vision4kids trek or missions trip will give you the opportunity to serve on the
mission field and enable you to raise funds to support various projects among the children.
Why go on a vision4kids trek or missions trip?

Over the past 6 months vision4kids have established a child sponsorship and
school feeding programme for the orphan children of the village.
Child Sponsorship Programme
10 orphan children from the poorest of the families; £15
per month from NI families to cover:
• School fees, books, pencils, sports
• New uniform and shoes twice a year
• School meal programme
• 90Kg sack of maize for the family (4times a year)
School Meal Programme
Set up with Kiambururu Primary school to cover 50 of
the most needy children.
• 100 Shillings per week per child (75p)
• One cooked meal per day during term time
• Only funds to run for a further 6 weeks
• £16 per month to cover

Itinerary
Day 1 (Monday)
• Travel from the UK and arrive late into Nairobi.
Day 2 (Tuesday)
• ‘acclimatisation day’ sorting out camp, meeting
Samson, team meeting to prepare for the week.
Day 3 (Wednesday)
• AM: visit Blessed Hill Academy & plan maintenance.
• PM: Bible club meeting with the school children.
Day 4 (Thursday)
• AM: building maintenance, painting and plumbing.
• PM: Bible club meeting in school & visit families
Day 5 (Friday)
• AM: Team 1 school assemblies , Team 2 maintenance
PM: Swap around; Team 2 visiting schools
Day 6 (Saturday)
• AM: Annual schools football tournament and gospel
outreach with the children of Kiambururu.
• PM Evening: Village children’s meeting with Samson.

• AM: local church service or meeting on campsite.
• PM: Organised Bible studies and children’s meetings.
Day 8 (Monday)
• If children can have the day off school – take the
children from the village meeting to local National
Park on a day trip.
Day 9 (Tuesday)
• AM: building maintenance, painting and plumbing.
• PM: Bible club meeting in school & visit families
Day 10 (Wednesday)
• Farewell meeting in Kiambururu before heading for
souvenir shopping in Nairobi and overnight stay.
Day 11 (Thursday)
• Visit elephant orphanage, day safari in Nairobi
National Park with late evening flight home.
Day 12 (Friday)
• Arrive back in Northern Ireland at lunch time.

Using a less travelled route allowing a more authentic
and cultured insight compared to main tourist route.
Itinerary allows for proper acclimatisation with series
of high passes and lower peaks.
Travelling from Belfast or Dublin via London Gatwick.

Mount Toubkal Morocco – September 2014
Itinerary
Day 1
• Arrive Marrakech (afternoon) overnight in city Riad.
Day 2 (4 hours walking)
• 2 hour drive to village of Imlil (1740m) which is
starting point for Toubkal. After lunch, we take a walk
up onto the adjacent hilside to help our
acclimatisation. Overnight stay in family run riad.
Day 3 (7-9 hours walking)
• Acclimatisation walk trekking a circuit from Imlil
including ascents to 2279m with lunch in a small
Berber village.
Day 4 (5-7 hours walking)
• First day of trek including ascent of Tizi Mzik col at
2485m, continuing to the camping spot close to the
Tamsoult Refuge.
Day 5 (7-9 hours walking)
• Day 2 on mountain starting by climb out of valley
followed by summit of Aguelzim South (3650m)
before overnight camp at Toubkal Refuge (3207m).
Itinerary
Day 6 (6-8 hours walking)
• Day 3 on the mountain with ascent of Mt Toubkal
4167m by the South Cwm after an early breakfast.
• Option to return by a less travelled alternative route
down the North Cwm.
• Overnight camp.
Day 7 (6-7 hours followed by 5-7 hours walking)
• Very early start followed by ascent of Ouanoukrim
(4089m) and its twin summits Ras and Timesguida
(second highest in the Atlas mountain range). Back to
Imlil with Moroccan dinner and local music.
Day 8
• Back to Marrakesh for some free time enjoying local
culture and some souvenir shopping.
• Overnight stay in Marrakesh city Riad.
Day 9
• Arrive back in Northern Ireland

• The fundraising has to be ethical and to a Christian
Standard (i.e.: No Gambling or events in pubs etc.)
• Many ways to raise money, but always be open and
honest and explain that you are getting sponsored to
undertake the challenge and that profit will go to
vision4kids projects;

The more people you get involved the easier it is to raise money. Use all your
contacts to raise money for you. If you ask someone to sponsor you, you may get
£10, but if you ask them to raise money for you, you may get £100;

Itinerary – based on Machame Route
Day 1
• Travel and arrive in Tanzania.
Day 2
• Briefing day in Moshi and get to know the staff.
Day 3 (5 hours walking)
• Mountain Day1: Starting at Machame Gate climbing
through the forest to 2580m at Machame Camp.
Day 4 (5 hours walking)
• Mountain Day2: from Machame Camp climbing to
Shira Plateau. Exposed camping at 3840m.
Day 5 (7 hours walking)
• Mountain Day3: from Shira Camp to Barranco Camp;
at 3950m. Camping at the foot of the Barranco Wall.
Day 6 (5 hours walking)
• Mountain Day4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Valley,
starting with a scramble over the Barranco Wall .
Good acclimatisation with no height gain.
Itinerary – based on Machame Route
Day 7 (4 hours walking)
• Mountain Day5: from Karanga Valley to Barafu. Early
to bed at 4550m ahead of the summit push
Day 8 (7 hours UP and 4 hours DOWN)
• Mountain Day6 – summit day: Night-time ascent on
rock and scree, occasional snow, to the crater rim
and the summit at 5895m.
• Descending to Barafu camp for lunch then moving on
down the mountain to Millennium Camp arriving late
afternoon. Lngest and hardest day on the mountain.
Day 9 (4-6 hours walking)
• Descending through the lush forest to Mweka Gate
and then on for a well earned shower and rest.
Day 10
• Optional free day, rest or one day Safari trip
Day 11
• Morning free in Moshi before overnight flight home
to the UK, arriving on Day 12
