Request for proposal to develop a documentary on the project Combating Illegal Wildlife Trade by Establishing a National Monitoring Network that Benefits Local Communities and Environment 1. Introduction This consultancy to develop a documentary is offered as part of the project titled Combating Illegal Wildlife Trade by Establishing a National Monitoring Network that Benefits Local Communities and Environment, financially supported by the USAID Small Grants and Ambassador’s Fund Programme. The project aims to combat wildlife trade in Pakistan, by: Undertaking a comprehensive mapping study on the illegal wildlife trade in Pakistan ; Strengthening the capacity of relevant law enforcement agencies through provision of training and equipment; Developing action plans to bring an improvement in legislation and streamlining inter-provincial and interdepartmental coordination; and Launching an awareness programme to enhance the knowledge of the general public on the importance of conservation and the threats posed by illegal wildlife trade. 2. Consultancy objectives The consultancy requires developing a five-minute documentary about the project. This will include the following tasks: i. A script narrating the documentary, prepared by the company or consultants selected by the company based on facts, figures, and any other information provided by the project staff (the script should be prepared in English and translated into Urdu); Video footage of overall project activities including workshops, field surveys that will be carried out to assess wildlife trade, expert interviews, and community awareness sessions, etc; Interviews of stakeholders, site visits, workshops, and awareness raising events at Taunsa Barrage, etc.; A narrator to provide a voice based on reading of the script; and prepare background music for the documentary; Animations, music, subtitles, acknowledgements to all those interviewed, interspersed during the documentary and/or for the titles of the documentary; Submission of the draft video to WWF-Pakistan for final feedback two weeks prior to deadline; Submission of final video after editing of raw videos and incorporation of any changes suggested by WWF. ii. iii. iv. v. vi. vii. The task may cover the project’s activities from December 2015 to June 2016. Editing and other work should be completed by July 2016. 3. Requirements for Experience and Qualifications Minimum Requirements The successful consultant/contractor will meet the following minimum requirements: Education: Degree in filmmaking/communications with sufficient experience on video recording, editing; Previous experience of preparing documentaries on environmental issues; Knowledge and understanding about environmental issues; Excellent writing skills and fluency in Urdu and English. 4. Competencies Demonstrates openness to change and ability to manage complexities; Demonstrates ability of analytical work and excellent reporting; Proactive and able to work with minimal supervision and high degree of initiative, reliability, flexibility, motivation, and resourcefulness; Professionalism: flexibility to make ad-hoc changes as and when the need arises; ability to perform under stress; willingness to keep flexible working hours. 5.
