Conclusion
Restructuring the Course

Currently, we are restructuring the summer
practice course according to the feedback
we received from our students and the
companies

We are designing new programs
“Focused” Summer Training

To fulfill the requirements of this program,
the student will work in a company





in a well-defined (on-going) project
under the supervision of an IE
in a multidisciplinary team
at least two months during the summer
performing IE related tasks
“Focused” Summer Training

Currently, we are communicating with a
number of companies to initiate this
program

Some companies already initiated such
programs by themselves, e.g. Eczacibasi
You might also search for such companies
by yourselves

Linking IE399 to IE477/478

We want to enhance the link between
IE399 and IE477/478 projects

There might two way links:


A prelude to IE477/478
Follow-up for recently finished projects
Prelude to IE477/478 Projects

An IE477/478 Project can be conducted in
the company that you are having your
summer training

We might give a priority to your team to
pick that project
Prelude to IE477/478 Projects



An extension of the project that you work on
could be defined as IE477/478 project
A completely different project can also be defined
Whichever project is defined, you will be one step
ahead since



You know the company and the people
You know the current system
You know how decisions are made, how operations
are conducted, etc.
Follow-up for IE477/478 Projects




In IE477/478 projects, the requirements
are to define, solve and implement a real
life project in an organization
Implementation takes in April and May
Sometimes, the semester ends before the
implementation completely accomplished
Implementation phase is one of the most
difficult part of our profession
Follow-up for IE477/478 Projects



We are planning to arrange summer
training positions in some of the
companies that senior students are
currently conducting an IE477/478 project
We will send juniors to complete and
support the implementation phases
In this way, new IE477/487 projects can
also spin off from these projects
