What is iSearch?
• Stands for “intelligent search”
• A brand new search and discovery tool which
enables you to search Library Catalogue and
most of the Library’s e-journals, e-books and
databases.
• You can find all relevant information on any
particular topic with one simple search.

Where to start?
- access iSearch from the HKIEd Library Website
http://www.lib.ied.edu.hk
Enter the keywords, article
title, author or name of the
book and start searching

thousand hits with books, journals,

the interlibrary loan service to get an electronic copy: Login to
ILLiad and input an online form

Mobile Apps for EBSCOhost:
1. Click the "iPhone and Android apps" link at the
bottom of iSearch page by using a non-mobile
browser.
2. Enter an email address which you can access from
your mobile device.
3. An email with an authentication key is sent to your
email.
4. Read the email from your device and click the link
found in the email to authenticate the application.

E-Database is an organized collection of scholarly information.

E-Databases contain update information of journal articles, book reviews,
conference papers, and other academic materials.

E-Databases support flexible and in-depth search for journal title, article
title, author, issue, volume, etc.

Use electronic databases to search for local and international literature.

Some databases provide the complete full text articles.

Other databases provide abstracts of the journal articles.

 Use Boolean operator “OR” to include more search terms

 Use truncation (*) to expand your search term in alternative
way
e.g. adolescen* to search for adolescent, adolescence, etc.

 Use “Limiter” from the database search screen to limit your
search results in various way
 Consider the suggested “Narrow Search Results by Subject”
from the search result screen
 Use Boolean operator “AND” to limit search results to a
narrower scene
