Typeface Conventions
• Practitioner style gives you the choice of

Washington Courts
• GR 14 requires all pleadings, motions, and
briefs to follow the Washington Reporter of
Decisions Style Sheet.
• It adopts the Bluebook with some exceptions.

Italics, Underlining, etc.
• In law review text and text sentences, italicize
case names, but in footnotes don’t.
• In briefs and memos, always italicize or
underline (your choice, just be consistent!).
• For Washington courts, always italicize or
underline case names.
