child-sized stylus.
LeapPad will be on shelves August 15th and launch with LeapFrog’s largest library ever, with more than

existing library of Leapster Explorer game cartridges and apps is cross-compatible with LeapPad. Each

Kids can have fun building a strong learning foundation with phonics skills, mathematics, and spelling,
and then take learning beyond the basics to geography, world languages, music, creativity, science, and
life skills such as brushing their teeth. As they embark on new learning adventures, kids can also practice
their writing skills with step-by-step guidance and the stylus.
LeapPad inspires curious minds to imagine more, with a complete suite of

1. The LeapFrog Advantage
At LeapFrog, we know that kids learn better and learn more when they are having fun and our heritage
is rooted in creating products that are rich in education, technology, and story-telling. Parents trust
LeapFrog products because they help children develop skills through play. Kids will have fun while
learning with LeapPad’s motion-sensor game controls, five-inch brilliant color screen and finger-touch or
stylus play that puts them in the middle of the action. In a form factor that mimics mom or dad’s device,
this sleek learning tablet can withstand a little roughhousing.
LeapPad is compatible with the Leapster Explorer games and apps. LeapPad also delivers creativity and
reading promises to ensure kids learn, read, play and share like never before. (More than 100 learning
games and downloadable apps such as videos, eBooks, flash cards, and more by the end of 2011!)
Revolutionizing Learning and Play
No other educational learning tool combines world-class learning curriculum with the entertainment
that kids crave. LeapPad covers everything from spelling, phonics skills, and mathematics to creativity,
science, music, geography, and so much more.
LeapFrog is revolutionizing how kids are learning to read by offering audio and visual support – and
featuring their favorite characters like Cinderella and Lightning McQueen – in a unique leveled reading
experience that recognizes and celebrates progress but knows when kids need a little assistance. Not
only can a parent select the age- and grade-appropriate level for their child, but the tablet automatically
adjusts the challenge level to keep kids engaged and match their progress from game to game and book
to book.
LeapPad is the first kid’s tablet with built-in camera, video recorder, microphone, and available
Animation Studio, allowing for creative exploration that can also be shared with family and friends. Kids
can use the Photo Studio to capture video or add fun effects to the pictures they take. And the Story
Studio enables kids to star in their own book using their very own pictures, artwork, audio recordings,
and text. Once they have created their own masterpiece, mom and dad can share with friends and
family via Facebook or through email (Fall 2011).

2. LeapPad Exclusive Learning Apps
Expand the fun with downloadable LeapPad exclusive learning apps that take digital reading and
personal creativity to the next level. Although LeapFrog Explorer game cartridges and apps are crosscompatible, LeapFrog has designed some LeapPad-only content that highlights the key features of the
tablet such as the accelerometer. The LeapPad exclusive learning apps come in the following broad
range of forms, with 13 available by year-end.
LeapPad Camera and Video Recorder (Included with purchase)
The LeapPad’s built-in camera and video recorder lets kids capture a moment and make it their own.

LeapPad Book Apps
Book apps are interactive, cinematic experiences designed to guide children through digital books and
immerse them in the joy of reading. Each book is actually three books in one, with different levels and
modes optimized to support reading development. As a child builds his/her reading skills, the reading
level of the story adjusts automatically and is remembered from book to book. Kids can even see the
text change as they progress through the stories and as their reading skills improve.
Innovative activities build comprehension skills and expand vocabulary with support features such as
touching a word and seeing its image, touching an image to see the word highlighted in text, touching
words to hear them sounded out, or finding definitions in the visual dictionary. All of this with characters
children love, brought to life through amazing animation that keeps children engaged as they learn.
Each book app features:
 Story are written at three different text levels
 3 modes where children can listen to the story, read along
with the story, or read and explore activities on their own
