What is a variable
expression?
A combination of variables, operations, &
symbols that represents a value (answer).
5x + 4y, when x=2, y=3 A number next to a letter means to X (multiply)
= 5(2) + 4(3)
= 10 + 12
= 22
Substitute the number for the variable (letter)
Use the same order to solve grouping symbols
as above (1.1)
Summary:
To Evaluate an expression, 1st substitute the
number in place of the correct Variable (letter),
then use the same order for solving that is
