The Town of Madison Police Department has started a hiring process! If you meet our
minimum qualifications and are interested in working in a busy urban environment then
you should apply!
We are ONLY accepting the DJ-LE-330 application with all questions answered.
Incomplete applications will be rejected.
You will be required to pass a written test, multiple oral interviews, psychological profile,
medical examination, and drug screening.
You must meet the Minimum Qualifications to apply:
1. 21 years of age
2. High school diploma or GED or HSED
3. 60 college credits
4. No felony or domestic abuse convictions
5. You must have completed the police academy (or anticipate completing the
academy within 3 months of testing date) and be eligible for WI Law
Enforcement Officer Certification if you are not already a police officer
6. Out-of-state applicants must be current police officers
7. Good driving record
8. Good physical condition (must be able to be certified by a medical professional to
be able to complete the duties of a police officer)
9. Good verbal and written skills
10. Clear and concise speech
11. Must be able to work well with others and alone
Benefits
 Starting monthly salary is $4,011.42 (2014 wages)
o Officers currently working full-time with another department may be
eligible to start at our 1-year level at $4,275.23.
 6-3 working schedule (1950 hours per year)
 Initial uniforms provided, $550 uniform allowance after 1st year
 11 paid holidays
 2 weeks vacation after the first year of employment
 Physicians Plus and Dean Care medical insurance available (90% employer paid)
(lump sum payout if you elect not to take the health insurance)
 Longevity bonus
 1 day sick leave earned per month
 WI retirement per WI state statute
