Stokoe Farms Trip
Sunday, October 25, 2-5:30pm, Scottsville NY
Take a trip to Stokoe Farms – over 35 activities to enjoy, including a corn maze, wagon rides, zip lines, farm
animals and more! Bring cash if you want to treat yourself to cider, donuts, and pumpkins! Tickets are $5
available in the Office of Student Life, which provide you admission to Stokoe Farms and the majority of
activities. Transportation is provided. Part of ‘A Series of EPIC Events’. EPIC is SA Funded.
Mu Phi Epsilon General Interest Meeting
Sunday, October 25, 8:30pm, Director’s Dining Room
Come learn about Mu Phi Epsilon, a professional, co-Ed music fraternity. Enjoy free pizza and cards with the
current members and learn about how to pledge as well as what becoming a Mu Phi can do for your career as
a professional musician. MPE is SA Recognized.
Cider & Donuts
Friday, October 30, 8am-10am, Lowry Hall
Stop by Lowry Hall on your way to class to grab cider and donuts, courtesy of ‘A Series of EPIC Events’!

Trip to the Abbey of the Genesee
Saturday, October 31, 1:30-5:45pm, Abbey of the Genesee
Have you ever been to a monastery? Eaten some delicious Monks' Bread? Now is your chance! Take a trip to
the Abbey of the Genesee, just 45 minutes south of Rochester. You will have the opportunity to take a scenic
walk around the Greenway, talk with Fr. Isaac and watch a video tour of the Abbey, visit the famous Monks'
Bread Store, and attend a music and chant session called Vespers. Transportation is provided, and you will be
back to the SLC around 5:45pm. You must sign up for this trip in advance in the Office of Student Life. Sign up
now – space is limited! Part of ‘A Series of EPIC Events’. Sponsored by Catholic Newman Community of
Eastman and EPIC. CNCE is SA Recognized. EPIC is SA Funded.
Fright Fest
Saturday, October 31, 5pm-11pm, Student Living Center
Theme dinner, haunted house, arts & crafts, palm readers, tarot card readers, costume contest and more! A
theme dinner will occur in the Dining Center 5-7pm using your normal meal plans. 6-9pm is ‘Fright Fest’,
featuring all sorts of activities and limited giveaways! Fright Fest is sponsored by EPIC, Eastman Cinema Club,
the Office of Student Life, and the Office of Residential Life. EPIC & ECC are SA Funded.
WISE Wednesday: Physical Fitness
Wednesday, November 4, 11:30am-1:30pm, SLC Lobby
Stop by the table in the SLC Lobby to talk about ways to stay physically active, especially as the temperatures
drop! WISE Wednesdays are part of the Office of Student Life’s Wellness Initiative for Students at Eastman
(WISE) program.
Students’ Association Meeting
Thursday, November 5, 9:30pm, Director’s Dining
Come to this meeting of ESM’s undergrad student government, the Students’ Association (SA)! Learn about
progress on ongoing SA initiatives, get involved as a student leader or in a student organization, and voice
your opinions and ideas on what matters most to students during Open Forum.
NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
Flu Vaccine – TODAY!
On Thursday October 22 from 11am to 1pm in Cominsky Promenade get your flu shot! Just bring your ESM
Student ID, UR ID number (8 digits), and your health insurance card. If a flu shot is not covered by your
personal insurance, bring $25 cash/check or term bill. Vaccination also available by appointment in the UHS
Office in the SLC.
Test Your Mood on National Depression Screening Day
The UHS Health Promotion Office, in collaboration with the University Counseling Center and Active Minds, is
marking National Depression Screening Day on Thursday, October 22. Free and confidential self-assessments
will be followed by a brief, private conversation with a UCC professional. Screenings will be held from 11am to
12:45pm in the Friel Lounge in Susan B. Anthony Hall and from 5 to 6:30pm in the lobby of the Goergen
Athletic Center. Both locations are on the River Campus so hop on the shuttle!
Streaming Degree Recitals
Technology & Media Production are pleased to announce that student degree recitals in Kilbourn Hall and
Hatch Recital Hall can now be streamed live on request, starting this week. These are intended to be private,
for family and friends who are unable to attend the recital in person, and will be a free service. Students can
arrange this as part of the same process to request audio or video recordings of recitals. Further details will
follow very soon regarding these additional streamed events.
Eastman School of Music Bookstore NEWS!
Halloween Party at the Bookstore - Monday, October 26th from 10am to 4pm with donuts, cider and gift bags
to the first 25 customers. Guess how many candy eyes in the water bottle to win the water bottle and all the
candy! Bookstore staff will be dressed up!
Repertoire Read through with David Hahn: Spirituals
On October 26 from 5-6pm in OSL101, join the American Choral Directors Association student chapter in a
sight-reading adventure through several spirituals, led by MM choral conductor David Hahn!
IML New Venture Challenge Important Dates
The Eastman New Venture Challenge is a contest to encourage new thinking and innovative ideas in music.
Those interested should stop by the IML Office (located on the first floor of the Miller Center) on Tuesday,
October 27 at 12pm to talk about project feasibility. Free coffee will be available. See all New Venture

Graduate School Info Fair
This Thursday, October 29 from 5:00-7:00PM on the Cominsky Promenade and Kodak Hall balcony lobby. Stop
by to get info about top graduate degree programs, assistantships and auditions. Co-hosted by Eastman,
Juilliard and Ithaca College.
Conservatory Exchange Program
Are you interested in studying abroad? Would you like the chance to visit Vienna, Paris or London? Learn more
about Eastman’s Conservatory Exchange Program by attending an information session with Dr. John Hain on
Thursday, October 29th from 5:00-6:00pm in MC320.
Meet with an Entrepreneur-in-Residence
Seeking advice from a seasoned entrepreneur? Take advantage of the University of Rochester Entrepreneursin-Residence (EIRs) program. Gregg Steinberg, managing director of Charlemagne Global Advisory and serial
entrepreneur, will hold office hours on Friday, October 30 from 10am to 4pm in the Institute for Music
Leadership Office in the Miller Center. Appointments are required and can be scheduled using our online
booking system: book with Gregg or by calling 585-276-3500.
Applications for Holiday Sing 2015
Eastman's annual Holiday Sing will take place on Friday, December 11, from Noon to 1:00 pm in Lowry
Hall. Performing opportunities are open to currently enrolled students, with a maximum of 20 per group and
are strictly limited to 5 minutes. Sign up forms are available in the Concert Office and are due by Friday,
November 13. If you have been chosen to perform, you will be notified by Wednesday, December 2. Please
contact the Concert Office directly with any questions at gmachin@esm.rochester.edu.
