ADVISING MISSION: Academic Advising at Cleveland State Community College is a support service designed to assist students in developing and meeting short-term and long-term academic goals. It is a partnership between advisors and students. Advisors provide information and guidance, while students take ownership of their education and responsibility for meeting academic requirements and deadlines. IV. LEARNING OUTCOME: As a participant in academic advising, you will be able to use academic processes and procedures related to advising and major exploration to create and maintain an academic plan. V. EXPECTATIONS FOR STUDENTS: As a student, you are expected to: 1. Contact your advisor each semester by email, phone or in person. 2. Schedule and keep advising appointments each semester. (CSCC has a mandatory advising policy for all degree- and certificate-seeking students). 3. Actively participate in advising by asking questions and sharing and clarifying goals. Follow through on advisor recommendations in a timely way. Identify where to find program requirements, registration policies and procedures. Check your CougarNet email account weekly for important information.
