UNIT PLAN COURSE: 2015 Health Science 2 UNIT FOCUS: UNIT OVERVIEW : LENGTH: OBJECTIVES/GOALS: FORMATIVE ASSESSMENTS: FINAL SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT: CPR – FIRST AID/Medical Terminology POWER STANDARD: Approximately 6-8 classes STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO… 1. SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE AHA CPR/FIRST AID COURSE TO OBTAIN CPR CARD 2. Identify signs and symptoms of a heart attack 3. Pass competency on AED 4. Perform one and two rescuer CPR on adult, child, and infant mannequins 5. Perform obstructed airway removal on all mannequins 6. Pass written assessment for CPR and First Aid 7. Student will master Medical terminology and abbreviations for Cardiovascular and nervous systems 8. Ongoing: teamwork, communication, medical terminology Students will complete daily assignments for practice; A minimum of 3 quizzes will be given this unit; two from AHA, at least 2 in medical terminology; class group activities will be done throughout, to include: Quizlet and Kahoot reviews, group projects- some will be graded, and some will not. Foundation Standard Quizzes will be given via Socrative with a minor grade for some. All assignments, handouts and due dates will be placed into Google Classroom as well as the class calendar. A unit assessment will be given at the conclusion of the unit, as well as competencies A MT exam will be done for a major grade twice a quarter.
