Dear Colleagues in Healthcare,
As President of the Afghan Medical Professionals Association of America (AMPAA), I would like to cordially invite you to join us in our mission this year. AMPAA is a charitable organization dedicated to promoting medical education and research, and to provide educational assistance in Afghanistan. We aim to achieve the goals of our mission by educating training and collaborating with local Afghan medical professionals, as well as by contributing to improving the quality of medical education available in Afghanistan.
Afghan Physicians Association in America (APAIA) was founded in 1989 and recognized by the
Secretary of State in Massachusetts on July 28, 1992. The name was later changed to AMPAA, and has been designated as a non-profit organization for over two decades. Since its inception,
AMPAA has been able to bring medical professionals in the United States under the common theme of “helping Afghans in Afghanistan” as well as by assisting Afghan Americans in the USA.
Our recent accomplishments include: organizing health fairs in local communities, guiding and mentoring Afghan American students in healthcare to support and facilitate achievement of their professional career goals; collaborating with other non-profit organizations to secure donations and collect basic necessities for the needy in Afghanistan; and sending medical equipment and pharmaceuticals to Afghanistan. We have also been able to foster a working relationship with the
Afghan healthcare authorities, including the Ministry of Public Health and Ministry of Higher
Education, which allowed us to play a more active role in modernizing the medical education and healthcare training in Afghanistan.
As much as we are proud of our past success, there is no guarantee we can maintain the same level of success moving forward. Simply put, we cannot afford to rest on our laurels. AMPAA needs your support now more than ever. By becoming an active or contributing member today, you will enable AMPAA to have sufficient funds to continue our ongoing projects. You will also enable us to take on fresh challenges this year. Your contributions will support our projects including educational programs like USMLE exam preparation for Afghan doctors, annual health fair, monthly health screenings, yearly scholarship program for the Afghan youth, and shipment of medical and educational supplies to Afghanistan. We also plan to provide financial support to at least one clinic currently providing care in Kabul. The AMPAA Board of Directors will ensure as your colleagues that your contribution support projects that are consistent with the core mission of AMPAA, worthy of our support and that 100% of your contributions go toward supporting its projects.
