Nordstrom left his home land (Sweden) to NYC 1897: He moved to Alaska in pursuit of seeking gold, earned $13,000 in a gold mine stake and then returned to Seattle 1901: John Nordstrom & a new friend, Carl Walling, opened their 1st shoe store called “Wallin & Nordstrom” 1928: John retired and sold his share of the company to this two sons: Everett and Elmer Nordstrom 1960: Nordstrom had eight stores located in Washington and Oregon.
