Statewide Access to EBSCO Nursing and Social Science Full Text Resources –
Now Available through VIVA
The Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA) is pleased to announce several new resources in the nursing and
social sciences fields. All of these resources are provided through the user-friendly EBSCO interface with
features that support simple inquiries as well as more complex searches. There is a responsive mobile
site for tablets and smartphones, and a free EBSCOhost app is available for both iOS and Android
devices.
These resources are available to all public member institutions and at a discounted opt-in price for
interested private institutions with the exception of one resource – EconLit with Full Text. EconLit with
Full Text is immediately available to all of the private institutions that participate in the Pooled Funds
program.
CINAHL with Full Text
CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) with Full Text provides essential
research materials for students and faculty in the nursing and allied health fields. This database indexes
over 3,000 journals and includes over 3.2 million records. Full text access is provided for 580 journals
dating back to 1981 and includes complete access to publications and nursing journals from the National
League for Nursing and the American Nurses Association. This expanded full text coverage replaces
VIVA’s past subscription to the basic CINAHL index database.
Subject coverage for both full text and indexed resources includes nursing, consumer health, alternative
and complementary medicine, biomedicine, and 17 additional allied health disciplines. Formats range
from articles and books, to nursing dissertations, conference proceedings, and more.
EconLit with Full Text
EconLit with Full Text provides full text access to over 650 journals and includes over 1.5 million records
to publications in all fields of economics with content dating back to 1886. Subject coverage
includes capital markets, country studies, econometrics, economic forecasting, environmental
economics, government regulations, labor economics, monetary theory, urban economics, and more.
Notably, the American Economic Association journals American Economic Review, Journal of Economic
Literature, and Journal of Economic Perspectives are included with no embargo.
Political Science Complete
Political Science Complete provides extensive coverage of global political topics, including subject
coverage of comparative politics, humanitarian issues, international relations, law and legislation, nongovernmental organizations, and political theory. This database features over 340 full text reference
books and monographs; more than 44,000 full text conference papers, including the papers of the
International Political Science Association; more than 500 full text journals; and indexing and abstracts
for over 2,900 journal titles. Political Science Complete also boasts a 23,850 term subject-specific
thesaurus to guide and support researchers in their searches.
SocINDEX with Full Text
SocINDEX with Full Text provides resources encompassing the broad spectrum of sociological study.
Comprehensive coverage of the field of sociology is included, as is coverage of related areas of study,
including criminology and criminal justice, demography, ethnic and racial studies, gender studies,
marriage and family, political sociology, religion, social work, substance abuse, and violence.
This database includes 900 full text journals and magazines, more than 850 full text books, many
working papers, dissertations, and conference proceedings, and abstracts for more than 1,500 journals
dating back to 1895. Data has been mined and included from an additional 420 priority coverage
journals and over 2,900 selective coverage journals. Also included are 25,800 Author Profiles covering
prolific, highly cited, and frequently searched for authors included in the database.
