INFORMATION FOR PRE-HEALTH PROFESSION MAJORS
All health professional schools have specific courses that are required to apply. This program of study is intended to be
flexible to cover several different health professional schools. You MUST meet with your advisor to understand what
courses are required to apply, how they apply towards acceptance or graduation, and what other requirements are needed
to apply to health professional schools.
 For more information on medical schools and the application process, go to http://www.aamc.org or for colleges of
osteopathy, go to www.aacom.org. To apply, you must take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). This test is
administered in April and August of each year. Applicants must register on-line at www.aamc.org/MCAT.
 For more information on pharmacy schools and the profession, go www.PharmCAS.org.
 For more information on dental schools and the application process go to: www.adae.org.
Humanities and Social Science Credit Requirements (15 credits): Minimum 3 credits must be a General Education approved
Humanities course (philosophy, literature, history, music or creative arts classes) AND a minimum 3 credits must be a General
Education approved Social Sciences course (economics, political science, psychology, or sociology classes). Remaining credits
can be from any Humanities/Social Science department.
Recommended Pre-Medicine Elective Courses Discuss with your advisor which classes are required for your professional school.
