Summer Work Instructions 2015
Text: Chapter 1 and 2 from “America’s History, 8th ed”.
 Pick up reading packet from Mr. Diehl (room 809) or Mrs. Moyd/Saloy (room 607)
Chapter Notes Requirements
For both chapters, take detailed notes in either Outline form or Cornell form. Chapter notes are to be:
 Clearly labeled (each heading and subheading you use)
 Detailed with information from each sub section
 Hand written in pen and neatly organized
 Include a 4-6 sentence summary of the chapter at the end of the notes
 Chapters 1 and 2 can be picked up in room 607 or 809
Identification Requirements
Identifications are terms that you will define. Some identification terms will be found in your text, some in
your outside readings, and some you will need to look up in other resources. You can choose to complete IDs
as notecards OR as a 3 column chart.
DEFINE each term AND write a 1-2 sentence SIGNIFICANCE of the term. The significance may come
after reading about a term/concept in on several different pages of the text.
Required IDs will be provided to you for each chapter by your AP teacher. IDs for Chapter 1 and 2 are on
page 2 of this document. YOU MUST INCLUDE ALL 3 REQUIRED ELEMENTS FOR IDS TO
EARN FULL CREDIT!
