Emphasis is placed on critical thinking skills, essay writing, and interpretation of primary documents. Our daily classes will be made up of, but not limited to: lecture, notes, essays, and activities. 1. Blue or Black AND Red Pens 2. Pencil and Lined Paper 3. A 3 Ring Binder with 5 dividers 4. Lined Index cards and something to contain them in (a sandwich bag is fine). Grading Scale: We will follow the PCHS set grade scale. 90-100 A 89-80 B 79-70 C 69-60 D 59- 0 F I- incomplete Expectations: Respect- We will all respect each other’s ideas, beliefs, and opinions. There will be times when we will have to agree to disagree and we will do it maturely. With that being said, feel free to challenge each other, the teacher, and yourself in a respectful manner. Basic Behaviors- Be on time. Be prepared to work every day. Turn cell phones off. Participate. Late work- In the case of an absence from class you will have as many days to make up your work as you were out. After that amount of time and in cases other than absences 5 points will be deducted every day an assignment is late. Plagiarism/ Cheating- Give credit where credit is due. If an assignment is not your own work and you have made no attempt to credit the original source you will receive no credit. If you are caught cheating or helping someone cheat you will receive no credit. Course Content: At the beginning of each six weeks you will receive an outline of our units of study.
