The common chemical name for aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid.
2. Is aspirin found in nature? If so, where?
Yes, the bark of the willow tree and other plants, like the American teaberry
plant.
3. If aspirin is not found in nature, from what materials is it made?
There were not enough willow trees and teaberry plants around to produce enough
salicylic acid so chemists learned to make salicylic acid from coal tar. Today however,
salicylic acid is usually made from petroleum.
4. Is aspirin a solid, liquid, or gas at room temperature?
