Math Blog Dec. 9th – Dec. 13th 6th Grade Math Monday: Today we worked on a new sections 3.6 “Order of Operation.” Students leaned the acronym GEMDAS. We will spend some time tomorrow finishing this section. Homework was assigned. Tuesday: Finish up 3.6 “Order of Operation.” The rest of the period will be dedicated to Science. Wednesday: 3.7 “Rational Numbers and Their Properties.” This is a section that requires a lot of notes. The students will actually be required to make flash cards in order to memorize the Properties. Homework will be assigned. Thursday: Finish up 3.7 “Rational Numbers and Their Properties.” Homework will be assigned. Friday: Weekly Quiz (3.6-3.7) I will also include a few problems from (3.1-3.5) just to add rigor. 7th Grade Pre-Algebra Monday: Today we started our new chapter “Exponents and Irrational Numbers.” Our first section was pretty easy but this chapter can be difficult. We began with 4.1 “Integer Power of Ten.” Homework was assigned. Tuesday: 4.2 “Scientific Notation.” Students will be converting large numbers into Scientific Notation. Homework will be assigned. Wednesday: 4.3 “Zero and Negative Exponents.” They already learned a little about this concept on Monday. This lesson will dive into the same concepts but with more complex problems. Homework will be assigned. Thursday: Weekly Quiz. 4.1-4.3 Friday: No Math today just Science. 8th Grade Algebra I Monday: Today we reviewed our exams. Students were given a take home exam that they can use to raise their exam score from last week. Tuesday: Today we will review our take home exam. Wednesday: We will start our new chapter “Solving Inequalities.” We will begin with 4.1 “Solve Inequalities Using Addition and Subtraction.” Homework will be assigned. Thursday: 4.2 “Solve Inequalities Using Multiplication and Division.” Homework will be assigned. Friday: No Math time reserved for Science.
