AP Psychology Homework Assignments – 2nd Semester We have to maintain this schedule. If school is closed due to snow, illness, etc. you will be responsible for missed material. All PowerPoint® notes are online. You are responsible for taking notes in class OR bringing the printout of the PowerPoint® notes to class and having them out on your desk. It is important that you pay attention in class and not work on other homework. If you recall from our chapter 7, rehearsal is important to maintaining and being able to retrieve the information that you are encoding for tests, especially the AP exam in May. (Please note this assignment sheet is subject to change. It is YOUR responsibility to make the necessary changes) ALL assignments and tests are DUE on the date listed. You will research the information listed using your textbook and additional resources and present this information to the class. Your group will create a 1-page handout about the selection to give to your classmates. This handout will be a cheat sheet so to speak and will include additional resources such as 800-numbers and pictures, graphs, etc. to enhance knowledge about the disorder. It should be something that if you or your classmates could share with others in the community. You must include a visual aide in addition to the handout. This can take several forms: an appropriate video clip, a PowerPoint, Prezi, Glog, and Video made using Movie Maker, etc. Most importantly you choose the group you are going to work with so choose wisely grasshopper because any issues with social loafing is all on you! Each presentation should last a minimum of 45 minutes and each member should have an active role. If you have someone in your group who is shy and doesn’t want to speak have them design the handout or create the visual but EVERYONE should have an active role in this project. Your presentation is to be no more than 5 minutes. Part I: Brainstorm Think about your life up until now. What major events have changed you, shaped you, influenced you, shook you? Are there times that were wildly happy or incredibly sad? What moments have made you shift in how you see the world? They may be huge like the death of a loved one or your first day of high school. Or they might have seemed insignificant at the time like meeting your best friend or starting to play a sport. Create a list of 5 events that made a difference in your life. (You may list more than 5) Event 1 _______________________________________________________________________________________ Event 2 ______________________________________________________________________________________ Event 3 _______________________________________________________________________________________ Event 4 _______________________________________________________________________________________ Event 5 _______________________________________________________________________________________ Part II: Relate It to Psychology Look through your textbook and find at least five psychology concepts that correspond with the events you selected. Psych Concept 1 ________________________________________________________________________________ Why? ________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Psych Concept 2 ________________________________________________________________________________ Why? ________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Psych Concept 3 ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Why? ________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________ 6 Psych Concept 4 ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Why? ________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Psych Concept 5 _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Why? ________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________ IV: Reflect Now that you have created the presentation, write a reflection using the outline below: Explanation of yourself (One paragraph) This paragraph is basically a brief autobiography: · Who are you? · Where are you from? · Where are you now? Explanation of this presentation (two-three paragraphs) This paragraph outlines your rationale or purpose for creating a PowerPoint or Video · Why are you completing it? (Because it is an assignment is NOT an answer!) · What do you hope to get out of this project? (Do not say an “A” or “100”!) · What do you see yourself doing with this later in life? · Who might you share it with? Class Presentation: ** As we listen to the presentations, please remember that this is a personal assignment to share yourself, better understand your peers, and remember each other positively. Be Kind AND Respectful! ** 7
