MONUMENT ACADEMY BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING HIGHLIGHTS – July 12, 2012 BOARD ACTION: Election of Board Officers for 2012-2013 Jason Douglas reported that a Nominating Committee meeting was held electronically on June 15, 2012 and the Nominating Committee proposed the following officers for a one-year term (2012-2013): Bob Linza – President Jason Douglas – Vice President Holly Rollins – Secretary Quentin Leighty – Treasurer The motion carried unanimously. Board Resolution for adding/deleting Integrity Bank Signatures Quentin Leighty made a motion to remove Tim Reiman as a signatory on the First National Bank account and the Integrity Bank accounts and to add Bob Linza as a signatory on the First National Bank account and the Integrity Bank accounts. Brian Thomas seconded the motion and the motion passed unanimously. CITIZEN’S COMMENTS: None. BOARD BUSINESS Treasurer’s Report – Quentin Leighty This report is based on preliminary year end numbers. Revenue through June 30, 2012 for the 2011/2012 School Year Revenue for the twelve months ended June 30, 2012 was $5,603,549, 100.04% of budgeted revenue compared to a run rate of 100%. Expenses through June 30, 2012 for the 2011/2012 School Year For the twelve months ended June 30, 2012, MA expended $5,527,754, which equates to 99.45% of budgeted expenses, compared to a 100% run rate. (Preliminary) Net Income (Loss) Budgeted net income for the 2011/2012 fiscal year was $42,606. Net income for the twelve months ended June 30, 2012 is $75,795 or $33,189 over the budgeted amount. Reserves On June 30, 2012, MA maintained a fund balance of $1,278,269 in the General Fund, as well as $1,689,748 in its General Fund bank accounts and certificates of deposits. The general fund balance is up $75,759, or 6.1%, from the same period last year. Code of Conduct Statement Signing - Policy 1514 Bob Linza reported that according to Board Policy 1514 each year at its Annual Meeting, each Director should sign and date a declaration concerning their code of conduct. Each member should have a copy of the declaration form in front of them. There were no questions from the directors and Bob Linza asked each director to sign their Code of Conduct and hand them to the board recording secretary. All six were signed and collected. SAC Follow Up The directors discussed a few of the items shown on the sac grid. Parent Open House: The directors discussed the best time to host a parent town hall meeting. This meeting would allow for the board to provide parents with information as well as give parents the opportunity to ask questions and meet all the directors. Board Staff Breakfast: The board is hosting a breakfast for the teachers on one of the training days during preservice. Bob Linza, Holly Rollins, Quentin Leighty and Brian Thomas plan to attend the breakfast. Don Griffin also thanked Jason Douglas for hosting the staff pot luck dinner that also occurring the week of Pre-Service Training. This is a dinner where the full staff can get together and reconnect. Moving the dinner to the beginning of the training week allows new staff the opportunity to meet co-workers. Newsletter/Campus Messenger: The Board will contribute regularly to the monthly newsletter. During further discussion, Tim Matson asked that the SAC grid include more of the items from the survey. The grid will be expanded to included items previously addressed, items addressed by the administration as well as those items that are still open. Bob Linza asked that Don Griffin and Lis Richard be able to provide more detail at the board retreat on SAC survey items that were addressed by administration.
