Adopt an Element Due Date: Tuesday - March 10, 2015 Requirements: 1. Complete the Adopt an Element Fact Sheet about your assigned element. (Individual – 60%) Each of you will be assigned an element from one of groups on the periodic table. You may use a variety of sources – including your textbook or reliable online resources – to fill out your Element Fact Sheet. Fact sheets should be neat, legible (if I can’t read it, I can’t grade it), and contain all of the required information. Use complete sentences when possible. 2. Create a presentation with your assigned group members. (Group – 40%) Your presentation group will consist of other students who have elements from the same group on the periodic table. After individually completing your Element Fact Sheet, you will work with your group members to research the properties that elements in your group share. Each group will prepare a presentation for the class – either a PowerPoint, Prezi, poster, etc. Each presentation must include: 1) The name of the group of elements (Alkali metals, Halogens, etc) 2) Three facts about each of the elements in your group. Each group member should share the 3 facts about the element that they researched. 3) At least three common properties that elements within the group share (reactivity, electronegativity, etc). You will be given some in-class time to work on this project. However, you may need to complete some of the work outside of class. Please see the attached rubric for all requirements of the project. Be creative and have fun with it! All digital projects must be emailed to me (ayannaccone@cbsd.org) by 3:30 pm on Tuesday March 10th.
