Be on time, seated, and ready to work when the bell rings.

Bring notebook, reference table, and pen/pencil to every class.

Follow all safety guidelines.

Grades
A.
The final grade will be the average of the four quarter grades and the
Physical Setting: Chemistry Regents Examination. (Each grade will count as
one fifth.)

Late assignments and laboratory reports, make-ups
A.
Work not completed due to legal absences must be made up. You will have
one extra day for each day of legal absence.
B.
Lateness grade penalties – Late labs will be accepted with a penalty of 10%
per day. After third day late, satisfactory lab reports will earn grade of 65%.
VI.
Extra Credit – No extra credit is offered.
VII.
Extra Help – Extra Help is by appointment only.
VIII.
Course Recommendations – Upon successful completion of Regents Chemistry, the
traditional science course recommendation is for Regents Physics. Students earning
A’s for the 1st and 2nd marking periods will merit consideration for AP science
courses. Non-Regents/non-AP science classes may also be considered for
recommendation.
IX.
Regents lab requirement –
A.
The lab requirement is a minimum of 1200 laboratory minutes.
B.
Regents exams are the final exams for courses. They count as one-fifth of
Regents science courses’ final averages. Students who do not meet the lab
requirement are not admitted to the Regents examination and receive an F. The F is
averaged with the four quarters to calculate the course’s final average.
C.
Lab reports must be “satisfactory.” Lab completeness and accuracy are used
to determine if a lab report is satisfactory.
D.
Dates
 Last Day of Instruction – The last day to submit lab reports to meet the lab
requirement for June 2014 Chemistry Regents exam.
E.
Missing Lab reports
1. Lab reports from previous quarters may be submitted for the lab
requirement, not for a grade.
F.
Student lab folders must be retained and stored for six months after the
completion of the Regents examination.
X.
Academic Integrity – As written in the annual student planner, "To help students
achieve their maximum academic potential, Manhasset Secondary School promotes
an environment which fosters integrity and honorable conduct. Administrators,
faculty, students and parents share the responsibility for maintaining an atmosphere
in which personal accountability is valued." With this statement in mind,
students must maintain work that is theirs alone and does not violate the academic
integrity policy. Please refer to the handbook regarding the consequences and
procedures used when an academic integrity violation has occurred.
