Sample Letter to Confer Degree
Purpose:
This sample letter was specifically designed for education majors enrolled
in and graduating from an accredited college or university.
The information requested on this sample letter allows the District to process your
employment manually while you are waiting for the following:


Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) to process your application for
certification and
your college/university to confer your degree and post it on your final “official”
transcript.
In addition, it confirms that you:


do not have any financial holds with the college/university and
have completed all of the necessary requirements to be eligible for a professional
teaching certificate from your current State.

Follow these steps to be considered for instructional employment with the Polk

Complete a Polk County Schools online application at www.polk-fl.net.
Complete the Certification Section of the online application based on
your current status.
 It is likely that you will not have your degree conferred and/or a
Statement of Status of Eligibility (SOE) when you initially fill out
the online application.
 As a result of this, you will have to answer “NO” to the questions
regarding these requirements.
 When you complete and submit your application and attempt to
apply for available openings, the system will notify you that “You do
not match the qualifications required for those positions”. Don’t
panic! This is why you need this letter.
Ask your Registrar’s Office to present the required information from
this template, on university/college letterhead.
Mail or email the completed letter to the address listed on the other side
of this document. Once the letter is received, it will be noted by the
Certification Office on your online application.

Next Steps: If/When a hiring administrator is interested in interviewing you, he/she will contact the
Human Resource Services Division directly and request that you be added to his/her
Interview List. This request must come directly from the school, not the applicant.
If we have not received this letter, the school’s request will not be granted.
