WELCOME TO THE MONTRÉAL SECTION OF THE ALPINE CLUB ! As a new member of the Montreal section you may wonder exactly what opportunities the club provides for you to develop your skills, expand your experiences, or meet new people with common interests. This info-sheet should provide you with details of many services and opportunities available to club members. Thousands of volunteer and staff hours are spent each year to make the ACC the club you will want to belong to if you love to spend your recreational time in the mountains. The Alpine Club of Canada can help you develop your skills through courses, programs, and trips. Whether you are looking for local outings, weekend trips, or weeklong camps, we have something for you. BENEFITS AT LOCAL LEVEL Possibility to join all excursions without any fee year-round, in Quebec (mainly Laurentians and Townships), north-eastern States (Adirondacks, Green and White Mountains) and the Rockies. Free access to FQME climbing sites ! Socials throughout the year (slide shows, conferences, festival evenings or simply pub nights). One free night (worth 20$) in the winter house in St-Adèle for new members (valid from December until April). The sections’s MONTAGE newsletter (published 3 times per year) informing you what’s going on locally. Carpooling (as driver or passenger) to the Adirondacks and Laurentians. Activities and events for the protection of the environment and better access to rocks and trails. Our members have a liability insurance while on official outings of the ACC. Directions to Keene Farm can be requested from keenefarm@accmontreal.ca A great log house situated in mature woodland, offering inexpensive stays in the heart of the High Peaks region (Giant, Dix, Gothics, Marcy, etc) accessible by car, 2 floors, sleeping area with matresses, wood stoves, kitchen with gas stoves, terrasse, out houses. No reservation required. o Winter house in the Laurentians (Ste-Adèle - 1 hour from Montreal) http://www.accmontreal.ca/skihouse.html Accessible from December to April A heated house with kitchen, shower, rooms, community room, just steps away from cross country trails and ice climbing! All this is made possible because volunteers invest their time in the Club and make it worth for everybody. All members are expected to volunteer as this volunteer spirit has allowed the ACC to exist for over 100 years. The Montreal Section has no paid employees. Every new member is invited to join.
