waving solutions, Nail and Skin Care needs on clients.

ATTENDANCE:
A LEARNER’S ATTENDANCE IN CLASS IS VERY IMPORTANT. AN ABSENCE FROM CLASS
MEANS LOSS OF INSTRUCTIONAL TIME REGARDLESS OF THE REASON. A LEARNER WHO
MISSES MORE THAN 10% OF THIS CLASS MAY BE ASK TO DROP FROM CLASS. LEARNERS
WHO MISS CLASS DUE TO ILLNESS, A DEATH IN THE FAMILY, OR OTHER COMPELLING
REASONS, SHOULD NOTIFY THEIR INSTRUCTORS BEFORE HAND, IF POSSIBLE, OR THE
FIRST DAY BACK TO SCHOOL TO SEE IF MAKEUP WORK CAN BE ARRANGED. ANY
LEARNER NEEDING TO LEAVE SCHOOL EARLY MUST TELL THE INSTRUCTOR THAT
MORNING. LEARNERS WHO DO NOT RETURN FROM LUNCH WITHOUT NOTIFING THE
INSTRUCTOR WILL BE ASK TO DROP THE CLASS.
INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY:
DURING PERIODS OF INCLEMENT WEATHER, ALL CLASSES SCHEDULED BEFORE 9:30 A.M.
WILL BE CANCELLED. LEARNERS WILL BE ASKED TO REPORT AT 9:30 FOR THEIR 9:30
COURSES. THE COURSES THAT ARE CANCELLED WILL BE MADE UP ACCORDING TO A
MANNER THAT THE INDIVIDUAL FACULTY MEMBER HAS DETERMINED AND WHICH HAS
BEEN APPROVED IN ADVANCE BY THE APPROPRIATE DIVISION CHAIR AND DEAN; CLASS
HOURS WILL BE MADE UP AT THE END OF THE SEMESTER OR A NON INSTRUCTIONAL
FRIDAY.
ACADEMIC HONESTY POLICY:

WITHDRAWAL POLICY:
LEARNER MAY WITHDRAW UP TO MIDTERM AND RECEIVE A GRADE OF “W” WITHOUT
THE INSTRUCTOR’S PERMISSION. AFTER MIDTERM, AND UP UNTIL THE LAST DAY OF
CLASS, ANY LEARNER MAY OFFICIALLY REQUEST A “W” GRADE, WHICH MAY BE GIVEN
AT THE DISCRETION OF THE INSTRUCTOR. EACH INSTRUCTOR SHALL STATE ON THE
FIRST OR SECOND CLASS MEETING THE FACTORS TO BE USED IN DETERMINING THE
ASSIGNMENT OF A “W” GRADE DURING THE DESCRETIONARY PERIOD. THE INSTRUCTOR
SHALL NOT ASSIGN A LEARNER A “W” GRADE FOR A CLASS UNLESS THE LEARNER HAS
OFFICIALLY WITHDRAWN FROM THAT CLASS. IF LEARNERS DO NOT OFFICIALLY

EVALUATIONS METHODS:
A. THEORY CLASS: TEST SCORES, QUIZES AND WORKBOOKS WILL ACCOUNT FOR
100% OF THIS GRADE.
B. LAB : EVALUATIONS ON ASSIGNED TASK AND LIVE WORK ON CLIENTS AND
LEARNERS WILL ACCOUNT FOR 100% OF THIS GRADE
C. LEARNERS WILL BE GRADED ON APPEARANCE, INTERACTING WITH OTHER
LEARNERS, TEACHERS, AND CLIENTS, APPLICATIONS TO ASSIGNMENTS,
ATTITUDE, PROFESSIONALISM, AND ATTENTANCES.
D. LEARNERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND AND PARTICIPATE IN ALL
MANDATORY FIELD TRIPS.
E. ALL THE ABOVE SCORES WILL BE AVERAGE TOGETHER FOR A GRADE FOR THE
COURSE.
F. ALL MANDATORY FIELD TRIPS WILL BE 10% OF THE OVERALL GRADE.

MAKE-UP POLICY:
LEARNERS WHO HAVE MISSED A TEST OR EVALUATION BECAUSE OF AN EXCUSED
ABSENCE WILL BE ALLOWED TO TAKE A MAKE-UP EXAM OR EVALUATION IF
ARRANGMENTS WERE MADE ON OR BEFORE THE FIRST DAY BACK TO CLASS FOLLOWING
THE ABSENCE, OTHERWISE, A “0” WILL BE RECORDED FOR THE TEST SCORE.
MAKE-UP EXAMS OR EVALUATIONS WILL NOT BE ADMINISTERED IN THE SAME FORMAT
AS THE SCHEDULED CLASS EXAM OR EVALUATIONS (DIFFERENT EXAM FORMAT, NO
OPEN BOOK OR WORD BLANK, NO TEST PRIVILEGES, ETC.). NO MAKE-UP EXAMS OR
EVALUATION WILL BE ADMINISTERED ON THE LAST WEEK OF THE SEMESTER. NO RETAKE EXAMS IN THEORY WILL BE ALLOWED AND ONLY ONE RE-TAKE EVALUATION
WILL BE ADMINISTERED. TAKE HOME EXAMS MUST BE SUBMITTED ON THE INSTRUCTED
DUE DATE OR SAID PENALTIES WILL APPLY; TEN POINTS PER DAY WILL BE DEDUCTED
FROM POSSIBLE SCORE UP TO FIVE DAYS, EXAMS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE
FIFTH DAY AND THE LEARNER WILL RECEIVE A “0” FOR THE EXAM.
COURSE POLICIES:
PARTICIPATION:
ALTHOUGH CLASS TIME NOT DESIGNATED AS LABORATORY IS NORMALLY REFERRED
TO AS “LECTURE,” LEARNERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN CLASS BY ASKING
QUESTIONS ON MATERIAL BEING ANALYZED. LEARNERS SHOULD COME TO CLASS
PREPARED AND READY TO WORK.
DURING LAB HOURS LEARNERS ARE TO BE WORKING ON THE MANNEQUINS, THIS TIME IS
UTILIZED TO LEARN TECHNIQUES OF HAIR STYLING AND SCALP CARE. LEARNERS CAN
ALSO PRACTICE MANICURING AND PEDICURING ON CLASSMATES. LEARNERS ARE
EXPECTED TO WORK ON THESE SKILLS UNTIL THEY ARE MASTERED.
CLASS POLICY:
1. LEARNER SHOULD HAVE ALL CLASS MATERIALS BEFORE CLASS STARTS.
2. LEARNER SHOULD GO TO THE RESTROOM BEFORE CLASS.
3. CELL PHONES ARE PROHIBITED IN THE CLASSROOM AND ON THE LAB FLOOR. IF
CELL PHONES ARE IN USE THE PHONE WILL BE TAKEN BY THE INSTRUCTOR AND
KEPT UNTIL THE END OF CLASS OR THE END OF THE DAY. LEANERS WHO REFUSE
TO SURRENDER CELL PHONES WILL BE TOLD TO SIGN OUT FOR THE DAY AND NO
MAKE-UP WORK WILL BE ALLOWED FOR THE TIME MISSED.
4. LEARNERS WILL NOT BE EXCUSED FROM CLASS FOR A PHONE CALLS, UNLESS IT IS
AN EMERGENCY. ALL PHONE CALLS (APPOINTMENT AND EMERGENCY) MUST COME
THROUGH THE COLLEGE PHONE SYSTEM AT THE FRONT DESK.
5. COMPUTER WORK SHOULD BE RELATED TO COSMETOLOGY ONLY, GAMES AND
PERSONAL USE (MY SPACE, FACEBOOK, ETC.) ARE NOT ALLOWED.
6. LEARNERS WHO CAUSE TROUBLE OR WHO ARE DISRUPTIVE IN THE PROGRAM WILL BE
GIVEN A THREE DAY SUSPENSION AND PLACED ON PROBATION FOR THE FIRST
INCIDENT, IF THIS TROUBLE CONTINUES THE LEARNER WILL BE DROPPED FROM THE
PROGRAM.
7. LEARNERS ARE EXPECTED TO ENTER SCHOOL EVERY MORNING LOOKING
PROFESSIONAL, WHICH INCLUDES A CLEAN UNIFORM, LAB COAT AND NAME TAG,
AND HAIR AND MAKE-UP DONE. INTERACTIONS WITH STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND
CLIENTS WILL BE MONITORED AND GRADED.
8.LEARNERS WHO REFUSE ASSIGNED CLIENTS OR TO BE AN ASSIGNED MODEL WILL BE
INSTRUCTED TO SIGN OUT FOR THE DAY, DURING THIS ABSENCE NO TEST OR
EVALUATIONS CAN BE MADE UP.
9. LEARNERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BRING CHILDREN DURING THE LECTURE OR LAB
CLASS. NO LOITERING IN THE DEPARTMENT WILL BE ALLOWED BY FAMILY OR
FRIENDS DURING CLASS AND LAB HOURS.
10.LEARNERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND AND PARTICIPATE IN ALL MANDATORY
FIELD TRIPS.
11.LEARNERS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE MORNING ASSIGNMENTS BEFORE GOING TO
LUNCH AND EVENING ASSIGNMENTS BEFORE THE END OF THE DAY. ASSIGNED
CLIENTS CAN BE SUBSTITUTED FOR EVENING ASSIGNMENTS AT THE DISCRETION OF
THE INSTRUCTOR.
LEARNERS WHO VIOLATE ANY AND ALL POLICES WILL BE GIVEN A THREE DAY
SUSPENSION AND PLACED ON PROBATION FOR THE FIRST OFFENSE. SECOND
OFFENSE WOULD RESULT IN TERMINATION FROM THE PROGRAM.
KENTUCKY STATE BOARD POLICES AND REGULATIONS:
1. LEARNERS MUST SIGN IN BEFORE RECEIVING HOURS AND SIGN OUT FOR LUNCH AND
BREAKS AND WHEN LEAVING FOR THE DAY.
2. NO FOOD OR DRINKS ARE PERMITTED ON THE LAD FLOOR, STATION DRAWERS OR
DISPENSARY. FOOD AND DRINKS SHOULD BE KEPT IN THE STUDENT BREAKROOM
ONLY.
3. LEARNERS ARE REQUIRED TO BE WORKING AT ALL TIMES IF RECEIVING HOURS, IF YOU
ARE TAKING BREAKS OR LUNCH YOU MUST BE SIGNED OUT.
4. LEARNERS MUST BE IN UNIFORM BEFORE THEY CAN RECEIVE HOURS IN
COSMETOLOGY.
5. LEARNERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WORK ON CLIENTS OUTSIDE OF THE SCHOOL
DURING THEIR COURSE OF ENROLLMENT.
6. LEARNERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE DEPARTMENT WITHOUT PERMISSION
FROM THE INSTRUCTOR.
