Academic Support Services
Tutoring Program Policies
1. Students may request one hour of tutoring weekly in each of their scheduled courses.
2. Professional and peer tutorials are 50 minutes long.
3. Students must be on time. If a student is more than 15 minutes late to a session, the
session will be recorded as a “no show.” NO EXCEPTIONS. Please report absent tutors
to the Director of Academic Support Services.
4. Students who are unable to meet for a session are expected to call the Tutoring Program
office. Please give at least 24 hours notice when canceling a session.
5. If a student cancels more than 2 sessions or misses more than 1 session without notice,
his/her sessions will be terminated. The student may then either request tutoring in
writing and general academic sills as needed by calling the office or emailing
tutoring@uarts.edu. Or the student may reapply for weekly sessions.
6. Under NO circumstances should students ask tutors to do their course work. Tutors do
not proofread or edit papers. Tutors will help a student with any stage of the writing
process and with grammar, style and documentation, but they will not “fix” a paper for
a student.
7. Students should bring the following to each tutorial:
a. Course syllabus
b. Assignment and class notes
c. A rough draft or a written set of questions or ideas for the assignment
d. All necessary materials
8. Students are expected to evaluate their tutors as well as the Tutoring Program at the end
of each semester.
9. Any problems or concerns regarding tutoring should be brought to the attention of C.
Blanca Gonzalez, Director, at 215.717.6820 or cgonzalez@uarts.edu.
10. I give the Director permission to give my cell phone number to my tutor.
yes
no
