A. Explain why in the United States there is a separation of power between branches of government and levels of government. Specific Learning Objective(s) Students will identify the three braches of government (Legislative, Executive, and Judicial) as well as their purpose through an acting activity. Total of 4 questions will be used. Stage 3 Learning Plans Flip chart promethean presentation 3 Branches of Government (Legislative, Executive, and Judicial) Check List Constitution for Activity Paper . Teacher will ask students “Do they know the three branches of government?” Teacher will then tell students “Today we will be learning about the three branches of government.” Teacher will then show a video about the three branches of government. Teacher will then have the students participate in the flip chart activity on the promethean board. Teacher will then instruct students to write a bill that they believe should become a law at school. Teacher will then divide students into three groups labeled Legislative, Executive and Judicial. Teacher will place students bills in a jar folded up randomly choosing ten different laws to put up for group activity. Teacher will then instruct students that each group will act out the role assigned to them by assigned branch. Teacher will assess students by asking them four essential questions after all laws are finished up by the Executive branch. Students will watch a video on the three branches of government. Students will participate on the flip chart activity. Students will then write their own laws to be passed at school. Students will be split into three groups labeled Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. Students will act out each duties sought out by their specific role. Students will be assessed with the verbal quiz while working on the group activity.
