The mission of Waite Middle School is to educate technological learners who are: o Advocates of safe, appropriate, responsible use of information and technology; o Competent in technology skills; o Knowledgeable users of a wide variety of technological sources o Skilled at information literacy while navigating online and other technological sources; o Proactive in accessing, evaluating, processing, and synthesizing a variety of sources individually and collaboratively; o Integrating technology into their California Standards Based learning and instruction
These skills help our students become contributing, self-confident citizens in the changing digital world. Students will develop transferable skills in anticipation of the future career paths upon which they will embark in high school.

Integration of Technology in Classroom Instruction, Personal Productivity, and Management Tasks. 5/4/11:
Classroom instruction:
Teachers have been provided a laptop for portability, facilitating teacher learning, resource management, and communication.
Teachers are provided access to email, and school website resources to network with staff, students, and community partners.
Most classrooms have continuous access to the Internet, without the need for additional technical support.
All classrooms have an LCD projector, and access to television monitors.
Most classrooms are equipped with document cameras.
At present, nine classrooms are equipped with Smartboard technology and supporting devices such as Smart response remote hand-helds.
Most teachers utilize multimedia resources for materials presentation
(PowerPoint, Keynote, LCD projectors, speakers, t elevision, DVD’s, iTouch, iPads and other multimedia tools).
Specific resources available for remediation (Orchard Learning, Study
Island, I-Pass, Rosetta Stone Read 180 and Brain Pop).
Teachers can provide gateways and resources for students through
Powerschool.
Teachers have access to Data Director and Powerschool to analyze and address student abilities and areas of need.
At present 8 th grade Science is utilizing project-based instruction. In addition, some aspects of this program are web-based.
Other teachers are engaging their students in web-based projects through the use of Google Documents and blogs.
Waite Middle School, in partnership with California State University
Fullerton, will develop a supplemental math program that targets students struggling in Math as well as provide additional enrichment for advanced students. Web-based programs as IPASS and APEX will be utilized for support. Another aspect of this program will be the Lego Education
Robotics Program, which will employ robotic hardware, software, and relevant curriculum.
Personal Productivity:
Teachers have access to Data Director to analyze and address student abilities and areas of need.
Using their laptops, teachers can plan lessons, research content, record student progress, access the internet, network, access email, access the school website, etc)

Based on the Ed Tech profile and Tiered technology survey:
Further training is needed for teachers to develop technology skills for advancement from Tier 1 to Tier 2.
Training will be provided on site.
Current hardware is sufficient to proceed forward.
At this time, we are assessing the need for new software.
