Headway Belfast (Brain Injury Matters NI from 24/9/13) Job Description Job Title Artist Service: Wellbeing Programme Based at: Castlereagh Business Park, Castlereagh Road, Belfast Contract Part time 18 hours per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) Responsible to CEO Line Manager: Neuro Physiotherapist Main Purpose: Run and develop an art programme for adults with a brain injury aimed at meeting individual and group needs. Main Duties 1. In discussion with the staff team, decide on which service users should be referred for the arts programme. 2. Provide one to one, small and large, open and closed group art sessions. 3. Be aware of health and safety and risk assessment procedures at the centre, and always provide a safe environment for members, with the required boundaries in place. 4. Keep up to date records and provide reports when requested or when necessary. 5. Maintain regular communication with the staff team, key workers, therapists where necessary, and external professionals where required, with the aim of working towards achievable goals for each member. 6. Maintain up-to-date timetables of sessions, and liaise with staff to avoid clashes. 7. Maintain client confidentiality, including the safe keeping and protection of any recorded/videoed material of sessions. 8. Assist the CEO in evaluating the impact and benefit of art for service users, for example by providing service review reports. 9. Assist with funding applications, as and when required. 10. Oversee and manage art materials budget and purchase supplies. Other Duties 1. Attend team meetings and training, as required. 2. Participate in and contribute to user reviews and goal planning. 3. To act as a key worker for around 15 service users, assisting them with advocacy, advice and information. 4. Assist in facilitation of the Wellbeing programme, as required. 5. Assist with funding applications when requested. Person Specification – Artist Essential Desirable Qualifications 1. Third level qualification in art Experience 1. Two years running group and individual arts sessions 1. Experience of working with adults with neuro-disability 2. Experience of team working 3. Experience of communicating information about the arts to other staff and professionals via formal and informal meetings, e-mails, record keeping and reports Skills, Knowledge and Abilities 1. Excellent communication, organizational and listening skills 2. Demonstrate an understanding of behavioural problems related to acquired brain injury and how to address them safely and effectively Other Requirements 1. Personally and professionally responsible 2.
