If you have trouble doing these, go to your teacher for extra help. Then try some of the unassigned questions. The unassigned questions may also be used for extra practise before the unit test. THE ASSIGNED MARK (5%): Since the answers to all the questions are at the back of the textbook, the mark assigned to the assignments will be based on the quality of the work : handed in on time, complete, neat, organized, etc. Math 10C – Measurement The Problem: A local automobile repair shop is installing a new container to hold oil. The container must be painted on the inside with a special chemical to help prevent leakage. The owner of the shop wants to estimate how much it will cost him to paint the inside of the container and then fill it with oil. The Facts to Consider: the container is cylindrical in shape the cylinder has a height of 2 feet 6 inches and a radius of 3 feet 8 inches the special paint costs $21.80 per litre the oil to fill the container costs $75.90 per litre Take the next few minutes thinking about this problem. Your task is not to find a numerical solution to the problem now (you will do that at the end of the unit). Your task is to put thought into what facts, skills, formulas, and procedures that are needed to solve the problem. Make a list of those concepts and skills you think you need to solve this problem.
