The Area
City of Salford
City of Salford is situated in the heart of Greater Manchester and covers an area
of 37 square miles. It is at the hub of the transport network, with the M602, M60,
M61 and M62 motorways all within the city boundaries, there are also excellent
rail and air links and the metrolink. The city has a thriving University and
Salford Royal NHS Trust has a major teaching facility.
Salford CCG
Every GP in Salford has agreed to join together as a consortium and become part
of Salford CCG. Each GP has signed up to take on an active role in making sure
this organisation is a success.
Dr Hamish Stedman from the Lakes practice in Swinton is the Chair of the group
and then there are a small group of other Salford GPs, one from the Silverdale
Medical Practice, Dr Paul Bishop who spends a part of his week working with Dr
Stedman in Salford CCG leadership roles, whilst continuing to spend the
remaining part of their week in their practices treating patients as usual.
Andrea Simpson, Silverdale Practice Manager is also the Neighbourhood Clinical
Commissioning Manager.
The Practice
Pendlebury Health Centre was officially opened on Friday 14th October 1977.
The health centre is owned by NHS Estates and has many visiting services
including District Nurses, Health Visitors and CPN’s.
Two practices (Lowry Medical Practice & Nelson Fold Practice) in Pendlebury
Health Centre merged to become The Silverdale Medical Practice on
01/04/2013, there has been a period of transition within the practice, but we
now seem to be moving forward with our relatively new team.
The practice occupies a large suite of consulting and administrative rooms, there
is also a independent pharmacy on site as well as an NHS dental service.
We have recently had a reception and waiting room refurbishment which has
greatly improved services to patients at the practice.
The area around Pendlebury Health Centre consists of approximately 2/3rds
privately owned housing and 1/3rd council housing. and is quite a stable working
class community with increasing unemployment, our list size does not fluctuate
to any degree. We have an increasing ethnic community in Clifton.
The area around Pendlebury and Swinton has good quality housing. Excellent
position for motorways and all major routes. Lots of good schools in the
surrounding areas and access to good shopping facilities in Manchester, the
Trafford Centre and Bolton.
The Practice has always achieved the highest targets with the childhood
immunization and cytology programmes and has always achieved nearly
maximum points year on year in the quality outcome framework.
