Key elements of IBM Smart Business:

IBM Smart Cube: It offers a complete application platform with all the required

In a few easy steps, businesses can be up and running with a complete IT solution
including the operating system, integrated middleware and back-office functionality
including e-mail, calendaring and backup and recovery, combined with the business
application they acquired.

IBM Smart Desk: It offers an easy-to-use dashboard through which solutions are
always connected for autonomic management, updates, and new application
deployment. Businesses can set up their system to allow updates to occur
automatically or on demand through subscription-based services.

IBM Smart Support: IBM Smart Business offers a single point of support for the
complete solution that is deployed on the Smart Cube. The support center provides
answers or services you need to stay focused on managing the business rather than
your equipment. Support for all applications, including non-IBM vendors, are part of
the complete business solutions on IBM Smart Market. Online communities allow
customers to read blogs, ask questions in forums, and contribute to wikis, in addition
to accessing knowledge bases maintained by IBM.

2.5 Functional and Business Scope of <ISV Application>

IBM Smart Cube is an integrated solution consisting of IBM hardware, software, and
services.
IBM Smart Cube – 7200 <or 7401> is a Dual-Core <or Quad-Core> Intel Xeon processor
based server that comes pre-loaded with IBM Smart Business Software Pack. The
Software Pack includes the following components that are pre-integrated and ready to
use
 SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 1.1 serves as the Operating System.
 IBM Proventia Server IPS v1.0 protects the Smart Cube from the growing
spectrum of threats and keep data and applications on the smart cube reliable,
available, and confidential. It combines a proven intrusion prevention system with
real-time monitoring and analysis of the operating system, applications, and
network activity to safeguard the Smart Cube environment from misuse and
intrusions.
 Zend Core v2.5 is a certified PHP distribution that includes the most reliable and
up-to-date version of PHP 5, tested PHP extensions, database drivers and other
enhancements.
 Domino Utility Server provides LDAP directory service on the Smart Cube.
Domino Utility Server is also an application server that provides collaboration
capabilities for separately purchased email/messaging software (IBM Smart
Business Collaboration Software Pack) or a non-mail Domino application
available on IBM Smart Market.
 IBM TSM for Mail ensures periodic backup of the LDAP Directory. TSM for Mail
utilizes the application program interfaces (APIs) provided by Lotus Domino to
perform online "hot" backups and improve restores without shutting down the
Smart Cube's e-mail server. TSM for Mail also exploits the "transaction logging"
feature of Domino, enabling the capture of just the database changes for logged
databases, thus resulting in less-frequent full backups
 Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) automates the Smart Cube’s data backup and
recovery management through intelligent backup & restore that utilize a
revolutionary progressive incremental backup & restore strategy. Only new and
used files are backed up based on smart-move and smart-store technology
leading to faster backups and restores with less network and storage resources
needed.
 Smart Business Application Integrator ensures that all the components of the
Smart Cube work together and provide a consistent usage experience and endto-end simplicity for the customer. It also provides a set of wizards,
instrumentation, and APIs that allow an ISV to simplify their dependencies on IT
infrastructure and management plus exploit the Smart Cube with minimal effort.
