FEBRUARY
Message from the President
Let me extend a warm welcome to everyone this
month! Our Chapter is very excited with the recent
response and attendance at our January meeting,
which featured a presentation by Irvine Councilwoman
Christina Shea and other city officers on “The Benefits
of Enhancing Purchasing Processes”. I am also
pleased to announce that our February 19th meeting
will include an “open” Board meeting to enhance
member awareness of Chapter developments and
involvement in future Chapter activities. This month’s
presentation will be from a seasoned Marketing
Manager on “Proposal Preparation: Survival of the
Fittest”. The information should provide some helpful
insight for our members. We hope to see you there!

Employment Update
Contracting—Surfing the Waves of
Change
April 5–8, 2009
Long Beach, California
In today’s turbulent economy and the
ever-changing legislation and oversight,
the role of today’s contract manager has
become more critical to organizational
success. On top of that, the contract
manager must stay up-to-date with
globalization, outsourcing, and
multifaceted partnerships. Now is not the
time to cut training and hope for the
best. Now is the time to pull together in
the face of these challenges. Past NCMA
World Congresses have provided the
ideal forum for contract managers to
learn and connect—it is imperative that
you attend World Congress 2009.
