Our Chapter is very excited with the recent response and attendance at our January meeting, which featured a presentation by Irvine Councilwoman Christina Shea and other city officers on “The Benefits of Enhancing Purchasing Processes”. I am also pleased to announce that our February 19th meeting will include an “open” Board meeting to enhance member awareness of Chapter developments and involvement in future Chapter activities. This month’s presentation will be from a seasoned Marketing Manager on “Proposal Preparation: Survival of the Fittest”. The information should provide some helpful insight for our members. Chapter Announcements Educational News OC CHAPTER OFFICER NOMINATIONS are currently being accepted for the spring elections for the 2009-2010 Chapter year. This is a great chance for you to become more involved in NCMA in a leadership role! All Orange County Chapter members are entitled to nominate any other member of their choosing, including self-nominations – just reply to this email with the name, email address and designated position of your nominee. The Beach Cities NCMA Chapter, supported by UC Irvine Extension, has announced their February 27, 2009 Education Symposium. The Southern California contracting professionals look forward to this symposium each year and know that session speakers will be providing the latest information on trends, issues and concerns in the contract management field. This year’s symposium “Sharpening the Skills of Contracts, Subcontracts, and Program Management Professionals” will be held at the Grand at Willow Center in Long Beach from 7:30 am – 3:00 pm. NATIONAL NCMA NEWS Employment Update Contracting—Surfing the Waves of Change April 5–8, 2009 Long Beach, California In today’s turbulent economy and the ever-changing legislation and oversight, the role of today’s contract manager has become more critical to organizational success. On top of that, the contract manager must stay up-to-date with globalization, outsourcing, and multifaceted partnerships. Now is not the time to cut training and hope for the best. Now is the time to pull together in the face of these challenges. Past NCMA World Congresses have provided the ideal forum for contract managers to learn and connect—it is imperative that you attend World Congress 2009.
