An exciting job
Morgan Ellis often works for 12 hours a day and she risks her life every
day for her job. But she’s got her dream job. So who is Morgan Ellis and
what does she do?
Morgan
Well, I’m a stunt actor. I do a lot of work on action films but I’m in
some comedies and dramas too. Actors and actresses don’t usually do
the dangerous scenes in a film. They haven’t got the right training. So
stunt actors do those scenes.
Interviewer What things do you do?
Morgan
Lots of things. Every film is different, but I often do stunts with cars. I
also do dangerous activities like paragliding, climbing and jumping from
bridges.
Interviewer What skills do you need for the job?
Morgan
Being able to move quickly and easily is important. I do a lot of judo
and gymnastics. I run and go to the gym every day too. It’s also
important to be a good driver. And, of course I need to look like a bit
like the actress in the film.
Interviewer What do you like about your job?
Morgan
Every day is completely different. I like being active and I get a real
buzz from my work.
Interviewer What don’t you like?
Morgan
We work in bad weather sometimes and early in the morning. I’m not
good in the morning and bad weather can create problems.
Interviewer What are you working on at the moment?
Morgan
I’m working on a very exciting film at the moment. I climb a mountain,
ski and jump into the sea from a height of about 20 metres.
Interviewer What are you doing after this project?
Morgan
I’m taking a break for a month. I’m going to do a bit of travelling
around Asia. I’m really looking forward to it.

Bristol – A great place to live!
Bristol is a popular place to live in the UK. It’s in the west of England, close to
Wales. Bristol’s only a medium-sized city, but there are hundreds of things to do
there.
The city’s great for shopping and in some shops, you can buy things with the local
currency, the Bristol pound. There are also lots of great cafés and restaurants for
food lovers and there are some excellent theatres and galleries, too. The city’s parks
are also very popular in summer.
Go to Bristol in spring, summer and autumn and there is usually a festival to go to.
There are festivals for theatre, music, films, comedy, food and flying kites. One
popular festival is the Balloon Fiesta. Over four days, around 100 hot-air balloons fly
over the city. This festival is now over 35 years old and about half a million people
go to it every year.
Bristol’s got an exciting Arts and Music scene, too. There are lots of events with live
music and interesting DJs. There is also an Institute for Modern Music where young
people can learn about the music business and how to be musicians and song
writers. Street Art is very popular in Bristol. The work of graffiti artist Banksy and
lots of other artists is on the walls of many buildings. There is also a street art
festival. The Urban Paint Festival (UPFest) attracts over 300 artists from many
different countries and brings 25,000 visitors to the city.
Bristol has got a rich history and there are many interesting historical places. High
above the city is Clifton Suspension Bridge. It’s over 150 years old and it’s Bristol’s
most famous sight. From the bridge you get a great view of the city and on good
days you can see Wales, too. You can also visit the old port area in the centre of
town. It’s not a big port today. There aren’t any big ships, but it’s still full of life.
The old buildings make good cafés, restaurants and art galleries and cinemas!
