On April 19, 2007, General Motors Powertrain Division, Livonia Engine (GMLE)
was issued a Notice of Termination after having met the requirements of the
FTO, including payment of the fine.
On March 30, 2007, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ)
entered into a Fast Track Order (FTO) with GMLE, to resolve alleged violations
of Part 111, Hazardous Waste Management, of the Natural Resources and
Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, as amended, and the rules
promulgated under Part 111. On November 16, 2006, the DEQ issued a Letter
of Warning alleging GMLE failed to properly characterize a waste stream
resulting in improper management of a hazardous waste at its facility.
The FTO requires GMLE to resolve the alleged violations, including properly
characterizing and managing waste generated at the Facility as required in Part 111.
GMLE was required to pay a civil fine of $17,000.
