Essex Community Groups
Encouraged to Apply for Share of £1.5m Fund
The deadline is approaching for community groups and organisations to bid for a share
of £1.5 million from Essex County Council’s Community Initiatives Fund (CIF).
Those who wish to express an interest in applying for this year’s round of funding must
do so by Friday, August 28.
Community groups and organisations which are successful at the expressions of
interest stage will be asked to make full applications by Friday September 25th, with
judging panels meeting throughout November to make the final decisions.
CIF is a small grants scheme funded by Essex County Council which is designed to
support community projects that:
 create, procure or develop new community projects
 enhance existing community projects
 enhance or develop initiatives that strengthen a community.
Community led groups and organisations within the 12 districts, boroughs and the City
of Chelmsford can apply to the fund for local projects.

Bupa UK Foundation
The Bupa UK Foundation welcomes expressions of interest from practical projects or
initiatives which have a direct impact on people's health and wellbeing, fall clearly into
theme of mid-life mental health, and focus on prevention, early intervention or
integration. Deadline is 4 September

Santander Foundation
The Santander Foundation has three grants programmes to help disadvantaged people
in the UK - Community Plus (up to £5,000); Learn and Grow (up to £10,000); Money
Skills (up to £10,000). There are no deadlines for any of the grants programmes

Help Through Crisis Fund
Grants are available for voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations in
England for projects that provide immediate support to individuals currently living in
crisis or at risk of crisis as a result of hardship. The Big Lottery Fund, in collaboration
with a wide range of organisations, has established the new £30 million Help Through
Crisis programme to fund projects that draw on the strengths and personal experience
of people facing hardship crisis so that they can overcome immediate difficulties and be
ready for opportunities and challenges ahead. Grants of between £300,000 and
£500,000 are available for projects lasting five years.

Creative Local Growth Fund
Grants are available to arts/cultural organisations and Local Enterprise Partnerships
(LEPs) in England to support the cultural sector in contributing to local economic
growth. Applicants can apply for grants between a minimum of £150,000 and a
maximum of £500,000.Applicants can apply for projects that last for up to three years
but applicants are strongly encouraged to consider whether they require funding for
one, two or three years.

NFU Mutual Charitable Trust
The objectives of the NFU Mutual Charitable Trust are to promote, facilitate and support
charitable activities which aim to relieve poverty within rural areas, advance the
education of the public by research and dissemination of information in relation to
agriculture or advance the education of young people within rural areas.

Coastal Revival Fund
Funding for local authorities, businesses, social enterprises charities and community
organisations to support or restore local heritage and facilities on the English Coast that
benefit the wider community and the surrounding economy. There is a total of £3 million
in revenue and capital grants available through this programme.
Grants provided through the scheme will support communities wishing to unlock the
economic potential of hard-to-tackle buildings and landscapes, facilities and
amusement. This will be achieved by funding the initial work to get restoration projects
underway, acting as a catalyst that attracts additional financing from the private and
charitable sectors.

Starbucks Youth Action Invites Applications for 2015 Funding
UK Youth and Starbucks are inviting groups working with young people not in education
or employment in England, Scotland and Wales to apply for grants of up to
£1,000.Young people in England, Scotland and Wales aged between 16 and 24 years
who are not in education or employment can apply. Two young people need to lead the
project and engage a further 50 young people throughout the course of the project. The
young people will need to have a youth worker/training organisation able to support
them throughout the project. Although the programme is primarily focused on young
people not in education or employment, strong applications from other applicants will be
considered.
Applications can be made at any time from July 2015 until February 2016.

Money Lending Team Fund
The England Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT) is, once again, able to make available
money taken from loan sharks to be used to benefit local communities.
The good news is that for the year 2015-2016 organisations will be able to apply for up
to £5,000 to directly target an area affected by, or believed to be at risk of illegal money
lending to promote the illegal money lending team and the message that loan sharks
should be avoided at all costs. Your project idea will need to target illegal money lending
and needs to be delivered by the 31st March 2016. If you are interested in applying and
would like to know more about the funding criteria, please contact
david.a.benbow@birmingham.gov.uk . Then, just send a short summary of your great
idea and the budget you will require.
Closing date for applications is September 30th 2015.
D'Oyly Carte Charitable Trust
The D'Oyly Carte Charitable Trust funds UK registered charities in the fields of the
advancement of the arts, health and medical welfare and environmental protection or
improvement.
Deadline is 24 October.

Robin Corbett Award for Prisoner Rehabilitation
This is an award for outstanding rehabilitative work with prisoners done by a small
charity or community group. It champions work that fosters personal responsibility.

Buttle UK - Estranged Young People Programme
Buttle UK can help address the needs of these young people by providing funding to
enable them to fully access and participate in education, employment or training
opportunities. We also help settle them in secure accommodation by contributing to
setting up home costs.

John Ellerman Foundation - Regional Museums and Galleries Fund
Funding is available to help strengthen regional museums and galleries in the UK by
helping organisations to enhance and sustain curatorial development to attract a
broader public. The Foundation is particularly interested in funding museums and
galleries that plan to: Support new ways of working both for established curators and
those just starting out. Work in partnership with others to develop and share good
practice. Ensure that the experience from the work funded is integrated into any future
plans.
The budget for 2015/16 is £482,000. The Foundation expects to make about four or five
grants for periods of two to three years.
The deadline for first-stage applications is 9 October 2015.

Paul Hamlyn Foundation Launches Access & Participation Fund (UK)
Grants are available to support organisations to test, implement and develop ambitious
plans to widen access to and deepen participation in the arts.
Not-for-profit, formally constituted organisations are eligible to apply, however
applicants that do not already have a track record in both the arts and work on access
and participation must have a strong partnership that possesses such skills.
The first application deadline for Explore and Test is 15 September 2015.
The first application deadline for More and Better is 1 November 2015.

Outdoor Play Spaces Programme – Lords Taverners
“We believe it is essential for special schools catering for children with severe learning
and physical disabilities to have access to suitable outdoor play equipment. ‘Play time’
is proven to improve children’s physical and mental health, help develop emotional
responses and learning skills and improving basic numeracy and literacy.
The Lord’s Taverners Charitable Programmes Team process applications for the
outdoor play programme twice yearly. The expression of interest form will be available
for download and completion between the following dates:
1 September 2015 to 30 November 2015
1 March 2016 to 31 May 2016
