FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 7, 2010 Contact: Betsy Eischen betsy@evolutionofdad.com Are You Evolved? “The Evolution of Dad” Groundbreaking Documentary Set To Change the Face of Fatherhood Ridgewood, NJ-- Follow award-winning filmmaker, Dana Glazer, on his personal journey as he explores fatherhood and looks for answers as to what it means to be an involved, contemporary American father. Scheduled for release on DVD in June, in time for Father’s Day, The Evolution of Dad (www.evolutionofdad.com) explores how fatherhood has evolved over time, what its impact has been on family and society, and how fatherhood will likely continue to change. When Dana Glazer’s Hollywood writing career started going “sideways,” he happily became the primary caregiver for his newly born son, but quickly found himself having conflicted feelings about his new role. Realizing that there has never been a documentary film to fully explore these feelings and what it means to be an American dad, Glazer committed himself to the undertaking. The Evolution of Dad was made over the last three years in brief pockets of time when Glazer had coverage for his kids - a realistic approach for an involved dad who is making a movie about involved and evolved dads. The film is an honest, personal, and heartfelt look into the world of fatherhood--where it has been and where it is headed. With expert commentary from leading sociologists, psychiatrists, and family law specialists as well as profiling some of the most unique and heroic dads of the new millenium, The Evolution of Dad digs deep to uncover the challenges many of today’s fathers are facing and reveals how dads can make a stronger and more positive impact on family life. What Glazer has captured are the issues around fatherhood that go far beyond at-home dads to include everyone. As a result, the film is poised to challenge and potentially change many of the misconceptions that people have about what it means to be a father. Beyond its educational merit, Glazer believes that watching the film for many people will be very emotional and inspirational as it will allow them to openly share their feelings about their own experiences with fatherhood. "I hope that the film will serve as a conversation starter for people who want to talk about something that has been so de-emphasized in our culture and so buried inside of ourselves. If even one dad watches the film and decides in some small way to change his life in order to spend more time with his kids, then it will all have been worth it for me”, says Glazer. 2 About the Filmmaker: Dana H. Glazer grew up in Newton, Massachusetts and began making movies when he was nine years old, shooting clay-mation films in his basement with the help of his grandfather and a trusty Super-8 camera. Later, he attended Bowdoin College in Maine and then studied filmmaking at NYU’s Graduate Film Program where he was a Student Academy Award winner. He became a Writer’s Guild of America member with the sale of his first script to Hollywood. The Evolution of Dad was inspired by Glazer’s own experiences of fatherhood. He currently resides in Ridgewood, NJ with his wife and two young sons. ### For all press inquiries including interviews and/or review copies, contact: Betsy Eischen at: betsy@evolutionofdad.com
