Accounting Instructor: Ms. Landro Room: Business Room Course Description This course will explain the role of accounting in business. Students will be introduced to accounting terminology, principles, and a basic knowledge necessary to keep a simple set of books. Course Objectives Define and apply appropriate terminology State the fundamental accounting equation Identify major classifications of assets and liabilities Describe the relationship between debit and credit entries Describe the steps of the accounting cycle Describe the relationship among journals, ledger, trial balances and financial statements in the accounting cycle. Class Rules Absolutely no food or drink in the computer lab No profane, rude, or abusive language. Keep work area neat. Be respectful of textbooks Treat all equipment with care. Homework Students will be allowed class time to finish assigned work. However, if a student does not finish in class, he or she will be responsible for completing the work on his or her own. Late assignments will receive a 10% point deduction for every day it is late. For each excused day of absence, students will be allowed two (2) days for make-up work as stated in the Student Handbook. Grading System 93-100 A 85-92 B 78-84 C 70-77 D Under 70 F Grading will be based on daily work and tests, work out of your workbook and the textbook, and the terms at the end of your chapters will be automatically assigned. Points are awarded to you for doing them.
