Dear Parents and Students,
January 5, 2015
This week we will be starting Wordly Wise, a comprehensive vocabulary study. Students will be using
Wordly Wise 3000, Book 2 hand-outs in class on a daily basis. Students will be tested on 15 spelling words and
definitions every OTHER week (alternating). Examples of words taught in Book 2 include: obedient, beverage,
obscure, frivolous, heroic, suffocation, and resume. Comprehension of the vocabulary words is facilitated and
reinforced through the four different exercises in each lesson. These lessons will be completed IN class. Any
assignments not complete will need to be finished at home. Please note that students will have packets with
word lists, definitions, and class work assignments located in their red folders for reference and
reinforcement. You may want to keep the following class work/homework schedule for Wordly Wise.

Please detach, sign and return the bottom portion as soon as possible. The first Spelling Test will be
on Thursday, January 8th. The first Vocabulary Test will be Wednesday, January 14th. Please note that these
dates do not match the above schedule due to student days off in January.
